Rising Stars: Meet Najair of Cleveland , oh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Najair

Hi Najair, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’d Say I always wanted to be a entertainer of some sort it’s just that growing up I was a little more on the shy. Side but Ive always loved music and I loved dancing to it. I guess at some point my family caught on to that and would always want me to dance for them at family gatherings to entertain the party.

It wasn’t until I started writing poetry in 2021 that I discovered I could write my own songs. Initially writing poems to get things off my mind and just express my self, shortly after I began posting my poems on Instagram with the first poem being about dealing with anxiety which I and a lot of ppl could resonate with .

It was at that moment I decided I wanted to pursue music … with the hopes of reaching people and making them feel good , making them feel seen, making them feel not alone.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Noooo not at all. One of my struggles early on was learning how to write to instrumentals … as I discussed earlier I started by writing poetry just jotting down whatever was on my mind but when it came to writing to beats I was struggling because I wanted to do the instrumental justice but I also wanted to say something meaningful.

Another struggle was trying to find producers to work with , and I would just reach out to producers and some would say they’d be down to work with me and never follow up or just not get back to me at all .

But I’d say my biggest struggle was getting out of my own way… at first I would be really nervous to put myself out there because I’ve always been a ambitious person and to some that could look like “ he has his hands in too many pots” and also because I’m from Cleveland and the majority of artist here who has some popularity has more of a gritty sound… so at times I would feel discouraged and I’d just have to push though

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ma recording artist , and I released my first song in February of this year. I’d say my specialty is making songs that makes you wanna dance and have a good time . And overall I say I will be known for my creativity and my ability to think outside the box. One of my proudest moments was shooting a music video for my song “ soft life” all by myself and also doing all the editing.

I’d say what sets me apart is my child like imagination / optimism. As an artist being able to tap into my imagination comes in really handy when it comes to shooting visuals / picking my cover art etc … my optimism helps me to keep going and trying something different every time

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
It’s kinda hard to say cause I feel like the music industry is constantly changing … currently and for the past 4 years it’s been being ruled by tiktok and tiktok trends and now we see all this ai going on which I’m not too happy about … and hopefully artist will be able to regulate that some shape or form
