Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Cox.
Hi Megan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I started cosmetology school at The Aveda Institute in Columbus, OH I knew styling was going to be a big part of my career. While my classmates were trying to learn all of the new coloring techniques, I was figuring out up-styles and following all of the popular wedding Instagram accounts. Of course, I learned how to do everything in cosmetology school, but styling is what really caught my attention and where I focused a lot of my energy. I worked for a few years in Columbus, where I learned a lot about the foundation for good styling, and where I first dipped my toes into bridal. It is safe to say I was obsessed and knew I wanted to do bridal hair for the long run! Then I moved to Cleveland after marrying my high school sweetheart, and I continued to do bridal and I learned so much along the way. Earlier this year I decided I was ready to go all-in with bridal and that is when Megan Cox Bridal was born!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Of course, I’m grateful for where I’ve been and all of the opportunities I’ve had, but my mindset got in the way of starting my own business. In the back of my head, I believed the lies that I wasn’t ready, or that I wasn’t good enough, or even that I would fail. Recently, I decided that a negative mindset wasn’t going to get me to where I wanted to go – so I leaped.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a bridal hair specialist focusing on modern, chic, clean-textured looks in the Cleveland area and beyond. I am known for personalized bridal hair and HaloCouture transformations. I am most proud of seeing my vision come to life; I want to give my brides a fun, yet simple stress-free experience, and hair that they love. I think what sets me apart from others is that I love building relationships with my brides leading up to their wedding day. I’ll be their wedding hair guru, hype woman, and a helping hand when they need one!
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that people may not know about me is my age, I will be 24 this coming May. I’m thankful that I found my passion at such a young age. It’s given me the opportunity to learn so much, and dream big for the future.
