Today we’d like to introduce you to Meaghan Beech
Meaghan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been passionate about arts and crafts since childhood, exploring various creative outlets over the years, including crocheting and cross-stitching. If you’ve ever tried cross-stitching, you know it requires an incredible amount of patience, with projects sometimes taking months to complete. Wanting something with a quicker sense of accomplishment, I searched for a new craft. In hindsight, it’s funny that I landed on stained glass, as it is also a time-consuming art form!
My interest in stained glass sparked when I discovered artists creating contemporary, non-traditional designs—far from the classic church windows most people envision. Intrigued, I watched a YouTube tutorial and decided to purchase a starter kit. This was during the tail end of COVID when in-person classes weren’t an option, so I relied entirely on online resources. Through trial, error, and countless hours of practice, I became a fully self-taught stained glass artist.
The process quickly became a passion, though my time to pursue it was limited by my 9-to-5 corporate job. Evenings and weekends were spent honing my craft, but a series of undeniable signs nudged me toward making a bold decision. In October 2023, I took a leap of faith, leaving my corporate career behind to pursue stained glass full-time. Since then, I’ve been running my small business, and I haven’t looked back!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I could say the cliché—”there have been struggles, and it ebbs and flows”—but honestly, this journey has been a dream come true, and it continues to be. Never in a million years did I think I would own my own art business. I know younger Meaghan would be incredibly proud.
However, I would say the biggest challenge has been establishing myself in a digital world where content creation plays such a huge role. So many artists are constantly filming, editing, and posting their process with trending audio clips, and for me, that aspect is tedious. Every moment spent editing a video is time I could be working on my glass art! Instead, I try to let my work speak for itself, and I’m beyond grateful for every order and purchase that comes my way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create modern stained glass art using traditional methods, bringing a fresh perspective to a timeless craft. Inspired by the natural beauty of Northeast Ohio, breathtaking scenery, and the bold, expressive lines of neotraditional tattoos, I craft each piece by hand with care and attention to detail. My mission is to design unique, high-quality stained glass that celebrates light, color, and individuality, bringing beauty and character to your space.
When I started my stained glass journey, I gained a large following for creating a variety of SpongeBob-inspired pieces. While I’m incredibly grateful for the audience that brought me, my artistic vision has evolved. Now, I’m focusing on creating larger, more intricate pieces that push my creativity further. I’m also excited to be launching a new series in the coming months—something I’ve been passionately working on behind the scenes. In addition to my artistic collections, I offer custom pet portraits, which bring me so much joy. There’s something truly special about capturing a beloved pet in stained glass, and I love seeing how much these pieces mean to their owners!
What matters most to you?
God, my fiancé, and my family & friends matter most to me. None of this would be possible without them. They are my biggest supporters, and their love and encouragement mean the world to me.
