Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Greene.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Back in 2016, our family was growing—we had just welcomed our second child and made the decision to build a new home in North Ridgeville. At the time, we didn’t know much about the city or the community.
Not long after moving in, we stumbled upon a local ice cream shop called Dairy Grove. It quickly became a favorite. Not only was it already a beloved staple in the area, but it also had Dole Whip—one of our go-to treats during Disney vacations.
As we became regulars, I couldn’t help but notice that Dairy Grove had great potential but was in need of a little refresh. I joked with my wife, “We should buy this place.” She laughed and reminded me, “It’s not for sale.”
Fast forward to 2022—I came across a Facebook post saying Dairy Grove was for sale. I immediately called our friends, Steve and Kathy, and asked, “What do you think about owning an ice cream shop?” They were all in—and the rest is history.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a business is anything but easy.
We took big risks—putting our homes on the line and even increasing our life insurance just to chase this dream. And no, we didn’t come into this as ice cream experts. We had to learn everything from the ground up.
From the outside, it might look like scooping cones and fun flavors all day—but the truth is, it’s way more complicated than it seems. We pour our energy into sourcing top-quality ingredients and crafting not just delicious treats, but a full guest experience from the moment you pull in.
None of this would be possible without our incredible team. They’re the heart of everything we do.

Steve and I first met while working at General Motors, where we’re both still employed today. Over the years we became close friends. Together, we have over 40 years of combined experience in the auto industry
What do you like and dislike about the city?
North Ridgeville is one of the fastest-growing cities around. Even in the short time we’ve lived here, the changes have been remarkable. Despite the growth, it still feels like a tight-knit community where local businesses truly support each other.
