Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Westhause.
Hi Jaime, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I hit a point where I wanted something of my own. In August of 2024, I really had to look at my options because I have a busy full-time job managing five distribution centers across the U.S., and I don’t have a lot of extra time.
However, I decided to start anyway. I launched a blog with my sister focused on helping women in midlife simplify their daily lives.
Over the past two years, our readership has steadily grown, and I’ve learned skills and technology I probably never would have touched otherwise. It’s been a lot more rewarding than I expected.
That’s what led me to expand things in the fall of 2025 and launch The Second Act Simplified Podcast. There, I focus on helping women start a side hustle or passion project in a way that actually fits into real life.
Each week, I talk through practical steps, mindset shifts, and the real fears and time constraints that tend to hold us back.
My goal is simple. I want women to stop waiting for the perfect time and start building something of their own, one small step at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been smooth, and honestly, I still run into challenges.
Time is the biggest one. I have a full-time job, and it’s important to me that I’m present for my family, my friends, and our church community. On top of that, my husband and I often travel on alternating work schedules, so our time together isn’t always predictable.
Because of that, I’ve had to be really intentional. I use the evenings and weekends when he’s traveling to work on the blog and the podcast. That’s where most of it gets done.
If I had to give one piece of advice to anyone who wants to start something, it’s this. Put your phone down and start.
It’s so easy to lose time scrolling, and before you know it, the time you thought you didn’t have is gone. Even a small pocket of time can be enough to move something forward or be more present with the people who matter to you.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work full-time in supply chain, managing multiple distribution centers, and alongside that I’ve built a blog and podcast focused on helping women in midlife simplify their lives and figure out what’s next.
What I really specialize in is helping women start something new in a way that actually fits into their real lives. Not in theory, but in the middle of full-time jobs, family responsibilities, and everything else they’re already managing.
I think what I’m known for, and what I try to stay consistent with, is being practical and honest. I’m not teaching from the outside. I’m doing this in real time. Building something on the side, figuring out what works, and sharing that as I go.
What I’m most proud of is that I’ve built this alongside a full-time career while still making time for my family, my church, and my community. It hasn’t required a complete life overhaul. It’s been built in the margins, and that’s exactly what I want other women to see is possible.
What sets me apart is that I’m not selling a fast path or a big leap. I focus on small, consistent steps that lead to real progress over time. It’s a slower approach, but it’s sustainable, and it actually works for women who have full lives and still want something of their own.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might surprise people is how much I enjoy slowing down when I’m not working. I love being outside. Gardening, taking walks, spending time at the beach, and traveling when we can. A lot of my free time is pretty simple, and I prefer it that way.
