Rising Stars: Meet Gezelle Guillard of Columbus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gezelle Guillard.

Hi Gezelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am originally from Louisiana, I evacuated in 2005 to Athens Ohio I had two small children and a book bag.. The town open their arms to me and my family. Fast-forwarding to 2018, By this time I have been working five years in a preschool and then I also worked at the local gas station. I started my keto diet journey which I have now lost 130+ pounds, and I realized if I can stick to this diet stay focused and actually see results I could do anything. So after Covid arrived and jobs were closing down, I was at a preschool. I loved the children, but I thought I needed more in life. So due to covid I did not return back to the preschool. I looked into local programs that can help families who are less fortunate Find education and assistance. I went to the local job and family services department and enrolled in the wioa(Workforce innovation opportunity act )program. This program allowed me to go to school for real estate as well as pay for all my fees!! Getting started!! I was even set up to be an alumni program for the next five years. All my continued education for the next five years is taken care of. They purchased office supplies, as well as makeup clothes, A printer even And all they ask is you pass. And I passed!!!! Best day ever and best of all I have my children supporting me the whole way through!!!! I navigated the real estate world for a couple of months and I stumbled onto my now Broker/ Mentor/Friend Miss Amber Carter on Facebook BGIRE(Black girls in real estate). I was to the point where it was just getting overwhelming I needed more training I needed a mentor I needed someone to help me and that’s exactly what I said to her I said I am drowning. She said say no more she took me under her wing!!! We ( 3) meet Daily to encourage each other and hold each other accountable for our business actions. With the direction in guidance from Miss Carter, I was able to sell my first property November 2021 in South East Ohio!!! She’s helping me try to find my niche. I think she’s amazing and I want to know everything she knows. And since November I have became a notary public as well as a notary loan signing agent. You have to have side hustles!! But now I’m in a position to use my platform for good, I will, I want to help low-income single mothers achieve homeownership. Anything is possible

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have had personal struggles, being a single mother of 2 teenage children. Just trying to keep my head above water, I have invested a lot of time energy and money, to advance my career. It’s like a roller coaster one Minute you are up excited about your sale the next minute you’re down because you want another and the next minute you’re up because you’ve spoken to someone but then you’re down because it didn’t really go anywhere.. Through all the struggle I had to find my balance my peace and my way of getting The job done!!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a real estate agent in the Columbus Ohio area, I also service Southeast Ohio. We specialize in Commercial Properties, Residential Properties, as well as Property and Asset Management. I go by GeeGee _ The Realtor On Facebook Instagram and Tik Tok! I am most proud of accomplishing my goal of selling a home within the first year of me becoming an agent. The Home Owner did not think we would be able to sell the property. We spent two weeks together cleaning, painting, prepping, and staging to get this house sold!! We did. And now we are best of friends!! It was a personal experience that I hope to experience with each and every client. I like to call it
#The Columbus Experience!!

I have went all over Columbus and met doctors police officers and locals. Just to offer my services and let them know that I’m here for them. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I am not only a realtor I am a Notary Public as well as a Loan Signing Agent. I have firsthand knowledge of loan papers and processes. I am a bit of a chatterbox I blame it on being a southern girl. I speak and greet everyone I come across. And find some way to turn our conversation into Real Estate or Notary services. It’s not easy doing either job you have to have nerves of steel and you have To be patient. But at the end, it’s all worth it!!

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel like I’m a personable person. I love talking to people. I love making people happy I like to make people smile. I am definitely a giver, but also a start-up in a nice way. This also helped me with my first client. I met her doing my good deed of the day!!! One act of kindness took us a long way!! I graduated from high school in Connecticut with a graphic communication certificate. Which has helped me along the way with webpages business cards, advertising, marketing strategies Etc. Two of my main goals is to help low-income single mothers achieve homeownership whether it be through financial assistance or government assistance. And mentoring academically struggling Schools and give the children insight on the real estate world. I feel it’s very lucrative and I wish someone would’ve come and talk to me about it in high school. I want to be the voice for the unheard!! I want us all to win.
