Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerilyn Jobe. Them and their team share their story with us below:
In 2010, Pat Frey and Gerilyn Jobe, a mother-daughter combination, were local residents who both happened to be at a crossroads in their lives. Pat had retired and was looking for a new path to follow. Gerilyn was working for a company that wanted her to relocate to the East coast, and she really didn’t want to leave the area. They had always appreciated the unique atmosphere and beautiful architecture of the historic Harrison area. What started as an off-handed “what if” conversation soon evolved into a more serious discussion about opening a coffee house in the downtown neighborhood. They envisioned a place where people could gather over coffee, slow down for a bit and enjoy the day. After much thought, a lot of encouragement from spouses, and a good dose of prayer, the Coffee Peddlar opened its doors in the fall of 2010… and the adventure began!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life is full of twists and turns. We choose to look at challenges as growth opportunities. Yes, there have been many, many growth opportunities over the years.
We have always been blessed with who has come alongside us to further the vision of the Coffee Peddlar; conversation, connection, and community. We have watched team members move on to their next chapter in life. We have experienced the painful loss of close customers. We have taken part in so many beautiful life moments with our guests, from engagements to bridal showers to baby showers to weddings held in our courtyard!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the Coffee Peddlar, we strive for genuine connections with our customers. We make it our focus to have each guest feel as if they just walked into a place they belong. We enjoy seeing the smiles on guests’ face when they take a sip of their coffee. We love when guests share a their milestones and accomplishments with us. We are honored to be the shoulder to lean on when difficult moments in life happen. We love our community and their support. The community is what drives us to be better than we were the day before.
We are very selective about who is part of our team. Each team member understands the importance of the connections made daily and the lasting impact its makes in our community.
