Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Byrd-Strickland.
Hi Ebony, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hello, my name is Ebony, originally from California. I am a mother, wife, caregiver, and model. I started out modeling at the age of 15, doing school and local fashion shows in California. I’m currently signed with Dime Management Modeling and Talent Agency. I have been published in over 15 fashion magazines, Coached, studied, and trained with some of the fashion world elites like the model, actress, coach Rio Summers (America’s Next Top Model). I have modeled coast to coast: New York Fashion Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week, Las Vegas Fashion Week, Atlanta’s Gold Culture Fashion Experience, and Diamond in the Rough Fashion Shows (LA, ATLANTA, OHIO), to name a few. September 11, 2021, I was named Ms. Top Model at New York Fashion Week sponsored by Beauty it’s Everywhere founded by Rene Bionat. My husband and I started Dime Management in 2018. We recently had a Launch in Cleveland, Ohio. After extensive research, we decided Ohio was an area of rich talent that needed to be exposed to the world. Currently on the schedule: 216 Fashion Experience Kidz Style (Sept 25, 2021). Halloween Fashion Show (Cleveland, Ohio), then it’s back to LA for our Superbowl Weekend Fashion Experience on Feb 12, 2022. We have big plans for Ohio. So, stay tuned.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, the road has been smooth. When you step on the scene from a different part of life like LA and you are used to the glam you want to bring that high energy with you. Cleveland, Ohio has been great in welcoming us. The only challenge we have found is finding the perfect location. Upon our arrival, we had a magazine powershoot and the location was nice but it did not have air conditioning. The second location was great but it wasn’t a large enough space. This 3rd location for the kid’s fashion show is great but it is not fashion show ready. No dressing rooms, no room for the runway. We will need to improvise. The location has been our biggest challenge, but I’m sure with networking, meeting the right people we will overcome. We would love to have one location, to have our fashion show, photoshoots, and training.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear many hats in my professional life and career. First and foremost, I’m a caregiver, at home and professionally. I’ve worked with many different types of patients. From wound care to respiratory. I’m currently studying to be a respiratory specialist. I’m a model, and model coach. Specializing in poses, runway, makeup, and hairstyles. I also run a business called Byrdland Stores, where I make and design custom wear.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned along the way is patience. Timing is everything. There is no need to rush. Stop and think things through.
