Rising Stars: Meet Dr. Chenelle B. Price

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Chenelle B. Price.

Dr. Chenelle B. Price

Hi Dr. Price, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati, Ohio, with my mother and siblings and came from a background where we did not have much growing up. Understanding that this was the narrative for many, I made a decision to strive to make a difference in the lives of others once I had the opportunity. As a Pastor, Educator, Author, International Speaker, and Women’s Empowerment Influencer, I have been able to uplift and inspire people in ways I never imagined.

Over the past 15 years, volunteering at regional correctional institutions, homeless shelters, nursing homes, centers for recovering drug addicts, and in various communities doing outreach between Cincinnati and Dayton has always served as a reminder to me to never forget our roots and to always give back; we may be pouring into the next person who will rise up make a change.

As a child, my educators were the most inspirational people in my life, which is also how I made the decision to become an educator. I believe children should have someone in their life who lays a foundation of inspiration, encouragement, and love. I was blessed that from Preschool to my Graduate programs, I have always had educators who poured these very things into me, and am blessed to able to do the same as an educator of 16 years. Teaching is such a passion for me, but I wanted to do more to make a difference in Education, so I started the LIMBright Scholarship Foundation in 2022.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
On this journey of making a difference, it has not always been easy. Over the course of my life, I have been homeless twice, experienced financial hardship, major life transitions, and even some health issues. When life’s unexpected occurrences hit you all at once, it can often become discouraging.

There were moments where I wanted to give up, times where I felt that my vision was too big to accomplish, and times where I felt that I would not be able to make a significant enough difference with what I wanted to do. As a spiritual leader, I had to tap into my faith that all things would work together for my good, remain persistent, strategize and work hard; My son has also been my motivation and inspiration as I work to be the example to him that there is nothing that we cannot accomplish when we put our faith and works into action.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I really would consider myself a Jill of All Trades! Professionally, teach in the Princeton School District and at the University of Cincinnati, but I am also a serial business owner and founder of a non-profit organization. Over the past year, LIMBright Education and the LIMBright Scholarship Foundation have been able to offer support and educational resources for children and families and professional development for educators.

The LIMBright Scholarship Foundation, a 501c3 organization, has been able to sponsor high school seniors with starter supplies for college, provide school supplies to low-income families, sponsor local minority sports groups for young children, and provide scholarships for high school graduates entering college. It has been such a beautiful experience watching children we were able to support flourish in their educational journey. Receiving news that one of our sponsored students or scholarship recipients made the Dean’s list, that teams we sponsored won their championship games, or that young children were inspired by our motivational school speeches is heart-warming.

In ministry, I am known as a Pastor, International Speaker, and Women’s Empowerment Influencer. I love to help and support others, and to see the impact that is made every day is a blessing. My goal has always been to be an advocate and example for people so that we can be resilient and can bounce back from the obstacles we face in life. In my book, Wise Up Challenge, I write about different life lessons I have learned as a devotional for those who are working through life’s challenges.

My greatest accomplishment was obtaining my Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies in Education from Union Institute & University in 2022. Having a young child, experiencing health issues, having a major life transition right at the beginning of the pandemic, and trying to juggle life while in a Ph.D. program was one of the most difficult things I have done in my life, but to finish and be able to make a greater impact in Education has been so rewarding.

One thing that I believe sets me apart from others is my genuine heart to help all of those I encounter. Whether it is someone who is close to me or a perfect stranger, I always try to find ways to help other people in need.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I could never say that luck played a role in my life or business; I have to give all glory to God! He has been the center of everything I have done, and I believe even understanding that at a young age has been beneficial for me. I have always called Matthew 6:33 my cheat code to life because I believe that when we seek and put God first, everything else in our life falls into place.
