Today we’d like to introduce you to Deb and Danelle
Hi Deb and Danelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We have been content creators since 2017. In 2008, we bought our first flip home. That led to many flip homes after that because we were hooked. There was one house in the town we lived in that we always loved. And, said, if that ever came up for sale, it was ours. It was in complete ruins. It was a vast brick colonial that was built in the 40s. Half of the shutters on the outside were gone, and the ones that were still there hung by one screw. There was trash all over the large front porch, and no one lived there anymore. I asked our real estate agent, and she knew nothing about it. She told me to check the sheriff’s sale list because it looked like one was going into foreclosure. Sure enough, it was on the list for $24,000. Long story short, we went to the sale and purchased it. It was filled with trash waist-high, and the entire basement was filled with water. I started documenting our home online in April 2017 by sharing it on our website, debanddanelle.com, and social media. Brands started reaching out to see if I would like to try their products and post about them if I loved them. That started my career in content creation, and we have been doing this full-time since around 2019. Since then, we have sold that home to build a new one. We still document all our projects to make our new house a home, including a vast vegetable garden, a pergola porch swing, and many different projects inside our home. We share everything we use, including various tools to make your lives easier, home decor looks, makeup and hair products, etc.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
We always dreamed of building a new home that looked old by incorporating many old mantels, doors, lighting, etc. When we lived in our old home that we bought at the sheriff’s sale, we planned to live there for five years, sell it, and live out our new home dream. At the end of 2019, a couple moving to our area for work pulled into our driveway and offered us a deal we couldn’t refuse on our home. That forced us to move into a rental home temporarily until we could start the building process. Covid happened. Our 9-month plan of living in the rental turned into a year and a half. We first moved into Deb’s workshop, which we built here on our property, to wait for prices to fall. They eventually dropped a bit, so we built our new home to look old and moved in December 2022. We love to work on projects and make our home unique by adding our touches. The rental was complicated because we wanted to put money into something other than a home that wasn’t ours.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
We are lifestyle content creators, so we share our lives daily on our website, debandanelle.com, and all over our social media platforms, @debanddanelle. We share everything from our current projects, recipes, what new products we are using, and tips to make your lives easier. What sets us apart from other creators is that we share such a wide range of products and projects that everyone can get something out of our content.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
We are honest and share only things that we love and that work for us. And we have an excellent reputation for doing so.
