Rising Stars: Meet Darius Chambers of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darius Chambers.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Darius Chambers, a podcast host, producer, entrepreneur, and creative from Akron, Ohio. I’ve always been passionate about giving people a voice and creating conversations that matter. That passion led me to build Black Legacy Productions and launch the What The Shit?! Podcast, which has grown into a platform featuring hundreds of episodes and guests discussing everything from current events and culture to mental health, relationships, sports, and comedy.

Like many creators, my journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve balanced full-time jobs while building my brand, faced personal setbacks, and learned how to keep creating even when life became challenging. Those experiences taught me resilience and reinforced my belief that consistency is more important than perfection.

Today, I’m continuing to expand my media company, develop new shows, create original music, and help others share their stories through podcasting and digital content. My mission is simple: create spaces where people can laugh, learn, think, and feel heard. I believe every setback can become part of a greater story, and I’m committed to leaving a legacy that inspires others to bet on themselves.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Building something meaningful while working full-time has been one of my biggest challenges. There were times when I questioned whether all the long nights, financial sacrifices, and constant balancing act were worth it. I’ve dealt with burnout, self-doubt, and the reality that not everyone will support your vision the way you hope they will.

Personally, I’ve also experienced major life changes, including the end of my marriage after more than a decade together. That season forced me to reevaluate who I was outside of my relationships and reminded me that sometimes growth comes through difficult transitions. Instead of letting those experiences define me, I used them as fuel to become a better man, creator, and leader.

In the media space, I’ve learned that success doesn’t happen overnight. Growing an audience, staying consistent, adapting to changes in technology, and continuing to create quality content takes patience and resilience. Every setback has taught me something valuable, and each obstacle has strengthened my commitment to building a lasting legacy through storytelling and giving others a platform to be heard.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the founder of Black Legacy Productions and the creator and host of the What The Shit?! Podcast, a platform dedicated to honest conversations, laughter, and meaningful dialogue. Over the years, I’ve produced hundreds of podcast episodes, interviewed guests from all walks of life, and built a space where people can discuss current events, culture, mental health, relationships, sports, entertainment, and real-life experiences without judgment.

Beyond hosting, I specialize in podcast production, content strategy, branding, and storytelling. I enjoy helping ideas become engaging content that informs, entertains, and sparks conversation. Whether I’m behind the microphone, producing a live show, creating promotional content, or developing new media projects, my goal is always to connect with people in an authentic way.

What I’m most proud of is the consistency. Building a podcast and production company while working a full-time career required discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance. Through every challenge, I continued to show up, create, and grow. Seeing the impact the show has had on listeners and guests makes every obstacle worthwhile.

What sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t chase trends or try to fit into a specific mold. I create conversations that are genuine, thought-provoking, and entertaining. My audience knows they’ll get honesty, humor, and real perspectives every time they tune in. I believe the best stories come from real people, and my mission is to make sure those voices are heard while building a legacy that extends beyond entertainment.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe success comes down to luck alone, but I do believe timing and opportunity play a role. I’ve been fortunate to meet people who believed in my vision, opened doors, or gave me opportunities to grow. Those moments mattered, but they only made a difference because I was prepared to take advantage of them.

On the other hand, I’ve experienced what many would call bad luck—personal setbacks, financial challenges, periods where growth felt slow, and moments when projects didn’t go as planned. There were times I questioned whether I should keep going. Looking back, though, those experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and patience. They forced me to become a better leader, creator, and businessman.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that luck may open a door, but consistency is what keeps it open. The opportunities I’m most proud of didn’t come from being in the right place at the right time—they came from years of showing up, improving my craft, building relationships, and refusing to quit. That’s the mindset I try to bring to everything I do.
