Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Spear
Hi Chelsea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a young age I always knew I would be my own boss. I started styling hair in elementary school and also loved everything beauty and girlie. And so I thought I would get my cosmetology license and style hair, however, after applying 3 different times things just seemed to never line up. In the early months of 2020 I learned why that door didn’t open for me. I launched Signature-CJ in April 2020 selling only my handmade lip glosses and soon grew to carry women’s accessories as well. The response I received from my community was overwhelmingly supportive and a catalyst for me to be sure we provided quality products that promoted embracing your own beauty and uniqueness. While I have faced a plethora of personal challenges when it comes to discouragement and overthinking, I have never lost faith in myself, my passion, or my purpose. I am beyond proud of what we’ve accomplished and eager to see what all will be in store for Signature-CJ in the future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely not been smooth the whole way. There have been moments of discouragement, over-analyzing and just being unsure of myself. I believe one of the biggest struggles has been our social media presence. In today’s age it seems almost impossible to have a successful small business without a strong social media presence. And so that is something we are certainly working on to grow our audience and provide the best service and products possible.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently own and solely operate two businesses. Signature-CJ Cosmetics & Accessories was launched in April 2020. We offer quality lip sticks and glosses as well as unique and trendy women’s accessories such as bracelets, body jewelry, earrings, anklets, sunglasses and so much more.
A Signature Experience: Spa & Esthetics was launched in November 2021 after graduating and becoming a licensed advanced esthetician. In this role I specialize in hair removal and skincare services. Becoming an esthetician gave me an opportunity to be more involved in the beauty and wellness industry and helping others practice self care.
I’m honestly proud to actually love what I do! I love talking to and meeting new people, leaving a positive impression, and encouraging others.
What sets me apart is that no matter which setting you encounter me in, the experience is the same. Inviting, loving, judgement free, and quality service!
What are your plans for the future?
I’m most looking forward to finding my footing with marketing us in the best way. Maybe taking some small business courses or attending more workshops. I would love to have a consistent, sound social media presence.
