Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Stephenson.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The COVID-19 pandemic affected people in many different ways. For some, it was a time of great struggle, loss, and uncertainty. For others, it was a time of introspection, growth, and resilience.
As the pandemic swept across the world, I witnessed firsthand the challenges that people were facing. I saw the physical, emotional, and financial toll that the virus was taking on individuals and families. I also saw the incredible strength and perseverance that many people were demonstrating, despite the trials they were facing.
Inspired by these observations, I began to put together writings and notes on the topic of resilience. I drew on their own experiences as a military spouse, personal development specialist, and as a legal professional who had seen many people overcome difficult circumstances.
Over time, these writings and notes began to take shape as a book. My book, titled “Rise Up: Be Resilient Like You’re Running Out of Time,” is a collection of stories, advice, and strategies for building resilience in the face of adversity. It draws on the experiences of individuals who have overcome great challenges and provides practical guidance for readers who are looking to build and strengthen their own resilience.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Writing a book on resilience, especially during the COVID pandemic, was not an easy task. The pandemic brought about a lot of uncertainties and challenges, making it difficult to focus and find the right words to express thoughts and ideas. The lockdown restrictions and social distancing measures meant that physical meetings and participating in author events were also challenging.
Despite these challenges, writing a book on resilience during this time was also inspiring and motivating. The COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedented time in history, and it highlighted the importance of resilience in navigating through tough times. It became even more evident that people needed something to turn to in order to help them build resilience and face challenges, and a book on resilience could be that guiding light.
Thus, the pandemic served as a reminder of why writing a book on resilience was so important and motivated me to persist through the challenges to get it done.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an author, freelance writer, legal professional, and personal development specialist.
With over a decade of experience in the legal profession, my unique perspective has allowed me to help others with grace and empathy on a path to discovering their own path and destiny.
My work has been featured in the Huffington Post, Attorney at Law Magazine, the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, the D.C. Bar Blog “Duly Noted,” Paralegals Connect Magazine, Google News, and multiple FOX, NBC, ABC, and CBS affiliates.
I’m also is a member of several professional organizations, including local Bar Associations, Mindfulness in Law Society, and Military Spouse J.D. Network.
An advocate for living a balanced lifestyle, I spend much of my free time cultivating resilience. I enjoy traveling with my husband, exploring various cities, and spending time with my Pug, Loubie
My diverse background and publishing a book on resilience sets me apart from others because it shows that I have not only developed resilience within myself, but I’m also willing to share my experiences and knowledge with others.
I’m most proud of my own resilience, as it demonstrates that I have not only survived but have also thrived in the face of challenges and shows that I have not given up when times got tough and that I’m always able to find ways to persevere. This kind of tenacity and determination can be a source of inspiration for others who may be struggling in their own lives.
What were you like growing up?
Since childhood, I harbored grand aspirations and nurtured my ambitions. I possessed a clear vision of my life goals at an early age and exhibited a strong drive to pursue them. This determination manifested in various forms, including independence, tenacity, and a willingness to take calculated risks to achieve my dreams.
Moreover, I displayed a mature demeanor beyond my years. I felt more comfortable in the company of older and more knowledgeable individuals and tended to be somewhat introverted. Although I was content with solitude, I still managed to initiate friendships and forge meaningful connections.
