Meet Xavier Peterson of Cleveland, OH

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Peterson

Hi Xavier, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started making music in my bedroom at 17 years old. It first started as IG reels and grew to DSP’s in March, 2024. Throughout my journey, I’ve had lots of ups and downs including emotional trauma and anxiety. I don’t like to trauma dump on people but I use music as a way for therapy. So every time memories play in my head about tragic events or fun situations I open up the Bandlab app and “make magic.” I’ve tried to take people on the journey with me, talking about my love life and even my late best friend (TJ) whom I’ve dedicated my music to. I am no longer doing this for myself!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been alot of times where I felt like giving up because I wasn’t gaining no traction or attention to my body of work. Being apart of the music industry ain’t easy especially when there’s millions of people tryna do the same thing. I take my music seriously so it pains me to see people joke about songs and downplay the culture and universal art that music brings. I’m typically a distance person so it takes a while to put my feelings out on the internet but one day I hope the world understands me for who I want to become and not who I am now.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an artist under the name of “Arnez.” I don’t like the term rapper cause I can be versatile, and it categorizes me without understanding the potential I bring to the table. My music is known for the calm voice melodies and the emotional flows. I am most proud of my talents and the potential I see in them to make talent turn into “hard work.” Throughout my career I’ve always been told to “never put the pen down” and “keep going” because everyone notices a difference between me and the “typical musician.” What sets me apart from others is my story and instead of going the typical route of club music and drill; I get to tell people about my story, whether it’s 1, or a million people, I will always be “Arnez”

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The way I see people working with me is if they truly get to digest the art and passion I put in my music and know that I don’t have to be in that position, but I am because it helps me cope with thoughts. I don’t think it’s a day where I’ve never had my headphones in because I’ve grown distant from family, friends and people in general, but this to me is the only way to share how I feel
