Meet Vickie Closson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vickie Closson. Them and their team share their story with us below:

From Foster Care to Millionaire

Known as the branding queen, Vickie Closson is obsessed with all things pink and glitter.

Born and raised in Texas, her childhood was spent in foster care, but she never let that stop her from dreaming big and going after her goals.

Vickie found the love of Marketing, Advertising, and Branding in 1991 and realized her hidden talents in the field. She worked in Newspaper where she won two Addy Awards from the American Advertising Federation, worked in the Advertising Agency world, Radio and TV but always found her passion in the print media. After moving to Ohio in 2002, Vickie grew her marketing and business knowledge throughout nearly two decades, serving as the Director of Operations for an umbrella organization that started as one business and grew to seven companies. In 2008 they added an apparel and promotional company under the umbrella where she fell in love with the apparel and promotional world because it gave her the opportunity to help businesses of all sizes, non-profits, and individuals with their Branding needs. This lit a passion that would eventually lead her to the entrepreneurial world.

In 2019, she became the President and CEO of Hype 5, a promotional product and apparel company located in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. When talking to customers and hearing their needs beyond apparel/promo items she knew she needed to start Branity and company that helps connect You and Your Brand Identity. Building Branding, Marketing, and Advertising Strategies just came natural and she knew where her next steps would lead her.

In 2021, Branity is a game-changer for many individuals, businesses, and nonprofits as she is able to guide them through so much from branding, marketing, advertising, promo items, apparel, and even social media. She has an amazing team surrounding her to support with all these things and more like funnels, websites, photography, and videography. She has truly found her calling and passion representing so many businesses and branding herself as a Strategist.

She graduated from Goldmach Sachs 10k Small Business Program in December 2020, an application-based program for business owners.

She’s a wife of 32 years, and she loves to travel with her husband. She has a son in the military and has a daughter who is a Human Resources professional. In her free time, she loves to shop, sew and bake.

She’s passionate about helping others. Vickie is a member of the Junior League of Columbus that focuses on children in foster care in Columbus, Ohio.

She’s also a member of Daughters of the Nile, a subset of Shriners International, serving as Princess Badoura that supports the burn unit at Shriners Hospitals for Children.

She loves to smile and laugh. She likes to refer to herself as “just a girl chasing her dreams” who encourages others to not let their past become their future, but rather use past experiences as a driving force for a better future.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, absolutely not. COVID was not only a business challenge that had to be overcome but I had to learn to pivot like never before.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t really believe in LUCK… I believe we can make our own future. Things happen in life and sure I can say well that was luck but, in all actuality, it was divine timing, working hard, rewarding yourself OR the opposite getting in your way, lack mindset, or just not believing in yourself.
