Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Simpson.
Hi Tasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a creative soul and my journey has been anything but linear. Since a young age, I have been deeply passionate about singing, creating and healing. When in my 20s, alcoholism really controlled my life and I didn’t know if I would ever meet that creative part of me again. In 2022, I got sober and found out that I have autism after enduring severe burnout in Grad school, which was absolutely life changing. I became a therapist for four years and last October, I left the mental health field to pursue my acting, singing and creative dreams. I have always been led by whimsy and it’s gotten me to a really positive place in my life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh my gosh, absolutely not. I’d say my life has had twists and turns and hills and valleys. I grew up in a home in which addiction took center stage. My parents tried their best and my early teens and twenties was a major healing era for me. I couldnt figure out how to get out of my own way and it turns out it’s because it was all trauma that needed to be healed. I am a sexual assault survivor, later-in-life-diagnosed autistic human that didn’t have accomodations and it was consistently challenging to move forward and figure this life out. The best part about my life now though is that the best is yet to come! I constantly feel like I am just so genuinely blessed to have an incredible life, one that feels brave, bold and authentic. I feel like I have this internal mission to be as authentic and share what I can so that other people know it gets better and that they deserve incredible and vibrant lives.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I wear many hats! I am an actor, singer and entrepreneur. I am a content creator and absolutely love creating content (follow me! Tash_on_stage). I am a spin instructor at Harness cycle in Ohio City and I love inspiring people to move their bodies. I coach Neurodivergent relationship clients and believe it or not, I am a psychic intuitive that does readings for people.
I would say that I am most known for showing up and sharing authentically online. I hope that people can come to my instagram and feel like they aren’t alone (and maybe even laugh with me along the way).
I am most proud of the work that I have done on stage and the impact that I left on the mental health field. While in the field, I advocated and worked with so many later-in-life-identified autistic folks and helped them navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives. That was one of the deepest honors of my life.
What sets me apart from others is fully believing in myself. I will be a household name, not because of what im producing but how I make people feel. Some might call that conceited but I just know my path is meant for big big things.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My life, truly. I get to awaken to peace every single day. I remember being in such dark places that I would wish away the hurt and pain. I would always think, “there has to be more than this,” and there is. It’s my life now. My life is brave and bold and I have this deep fire within me that how I am going about my life will create change. That makes me so happy.
