Today we’d like to introduce you to Sute Roozu.
Hi Sute, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Stephanie. I am a full time content creator, streamer, & cosplayer! I first found my interest in costumes after attending a local medieval fair & eventually found myself attending gaming/ anime conventions. I have loved videogames since I was a kid, my first console was a SNES. I didn’t get into anime until about 2011 though.
After getting into cosplay, I began honing in my skills & perfecting my craft. I also found the platform Twitch, which I began streaming on in 2016. Eventually, I found a way to monetize my cosplays & streams on the platform Patreon, as well as collaborating with brands, & guesting at conventions. I was working as a hairdresser, but my boss allowed me to slowly step away from hairdressing to transition into full time creating. I’ve been working on my content ever since!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not, but that’s the best way to grow and learn! If you can get back up after a failure & try again, each time you’ll be more successful than the last. Some of the challenges I faced as a costume designer were; what mediums to work with & how to pattern. The internet is such a powerful tool. You can find so many patterns & tutorials to help you along the way.
As far as social media goes, you really have to grow a thick skin! The internet can be so CUT THROAT & hit ya right where it hurts. Everything is a learning experience. You may as well get comfortable with failing if you want to be successful! Haha.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a cosplayer, which is basically a costume designer. I take characters from, movies, animes, & video games & bring them to life! I’d say I specialize in props & armors, rather than sewing. I’ve always found sewing to my weak point. I’d say I’m most known for my armor cosplays, & one particular anime character named Celty Sturluson from the series Durarara. She rides a motorcycle & wears a cat helmet. I actually ride myself in real life, so I decided to cosplay her! It makes that character a little more special. I’m most proud of working for THQ Nordic & Henchmen Studios at E3 in 2019, & internationally guesting as a cosplayer for Stan Lee Super Con, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. I’d say those have been the highlights of my career thus far, What sets me apart from others is my diverse profile & my resilience! I’ll never give up on what I love & I’m always looking to try new things.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Playing Donkey Kong Country on the SNES with my Dad! Haha. Definitely one of my best, early childhood memories.
