Hi Shawna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My passion for traveling started in the 5th grade when I went to Niagara Falls. I grew up in a middle-class family; however, that didn’t mean I got everything I wanted. Therefore, I had to fundraise the money to go on my class trip and I did just that my selling 5 boxes of candy bars. Being able to go to Canada changed my life! At 10 years old, I felt like I can travel, adventure, and see the entire world. From high school to graduate school, every chance I got I traveled to be an exchange student and study aboard. After a few business endeavors that ended up not being my passion, I found my way back to traveling and decided to start my own travel agency Lux’cation Experiences. This decision solely came from wanting to create a career from the things I truly love to do already in my lifestyle.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t entrepreneurship is ever smooth for anyone LOL. Lux’cation experience, and I struggled with finding how to be unique for our target audience. Since the pandemic, traveling has been became the #1 leisure for individuals. Therefore, the competition in this industry is high.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love best about Cincinnati is that they are supporting and giving more recognition to small business owners; we are really becoming a community by support the small businesses in the city and providing them with the resources they need. What I dislike about the city is the lack of funding opportunities for minorities and their small businesses.
