Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Raitz.
Hi Sasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a hairstylist for going on 26 years this spring. I found my salon home in Findlay for about 13 years before making my way back to Tiffin. I have done everything from working in a traditional commission to salon, to renting a chair for myself, to owning my own studio and working by myself to owning a full service salon with a full staff, and now back to owning a small 3 chair salon that i consider the “sweet spot”
Its the perfect size to manage while raising two active kids in sports.
I’ve taken everything that I have loved or hated from each experience and used it to build what I have today
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Each salon has had their own set of struggles. I think when you’re dealing with the public on such a personal level every change is kind of a big deal. When I opened the salon before this one it was fully staffed before it was even open. This salon has not had the same experience. I have struggled to find co-stylists that have realistic expectations of the business. I am a traditional stylist so trying to master social media and photography to “stay relevant” has been a personal challenge of mine. My greatest joy comes from the work i do behind the chair and the connections i make with the people that have turned from clients to friends.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I absolutely adore my job. I have gotten to meet some really cool and inspiring people. Over the last 6 years I have devoted myself to hair color and extensions, filling a void that wasn’t mainstream at that time. I would say I am known for the one on one experience that you get here. I do not double book my appointments and the client pays for the time in my chair, not the service being providing. To my knowledge I am the only salon in this area that structures pricing in this manner, I also am the only salon that is gratuity free. The clients appreciate the straightforward pricing in an unstable economy.
Another thing that sets me apart is, during processing time the clients gets to choose a complimentary eye or lip treatment to relax with. They get my one on one attention for the amount of time they booked with me.
I offer a quiet, private, and elevated experience for my guests.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
The building I am in was empty for approx 20 years before we renovated my side. It needed everything from walls to windows to plumbing. It was quite an undertaking. The remodeling video was impressive. The location is great as Tiffin really spends a lot of time and energy promoting their small businesses.
