Today we’d like to introduce you to Sable Henderson.
Hi Sable, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m also known as Queen Mizz Sable. My journey started as me being a part of fashion shows and not feeling like my makeup was always matching my actual skin tone or half the time even being done before showtime. I chose to learn how to do my makeup and then began to practice on my model sisters back in 2018 and then others in my community started to reach out.
At that point, I wanted to take it seriously and got certified as a makeup artist in 2019 and created a strip lash line called Cake Lashes in 2020. From there I began to provide makeup services not only statewide but nationwide.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any entrepreneur will tell you the road is not easy, but no one said it would be. Just know it’ll be worth it when you get there! Most of my struggles started from my not believing in myself. I had to learn to show gratitude and remind myself how far I’ve come in my journey in my many roles. Not only am I a business owner but I’m a model, a full-time employee, an influencer, and a single mother.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, I’m not your average businesswoman, I’m also the person on the other side as the model/influencer. That helps in many situations so I can relate to the creative when coming up with looks for whatever I’m providing services for. I’m not only doing their makeup, but I also help directly in photoshoot posing, if needed, styling, and finding a photographer if it comes down to it that will give you quality work! Come to me and I’ll get you together if you need headshots for your businesses as well.
I also just produced my first fashion show on September 11th with the help of my wonderful coordinators Ja’Mez Burton and Brihanna Boggs. The hosts were Bianca Golden Alum of America’s Next Top Model and Akili Cooper, a local designer here in Columbus. It was such a great experience where I was able to pull experienced models statewide that put on a great show with local musicians/dancers and a feature from the Worldwide brand Curvysense!
I want all this work to be for the better of one’s mental health and a way to show yourself, true love. Being a survivor of domestic violence, I want others to know you can do whatever you want when you are passionate about it, and seeing others smile and learn to love themselves more is just a piece of why I love doing what I do!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I love listening to manifesting videos and reading self-help books because if you weren’t raised to think I’m those certain ways to be more positive in your life, it’s hard to understand you are worth receiving those good things. Every day I am still learning more and teaching my daughter so she does T have to struggle in that mindset and is ready for success mentally and spiritually.
