Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob run Corleone
Hi Rob run, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off by being a shooter for a local crip set when I was 13 but I made real good grades so my parents and teachers wouldnt believe it and I became a rolling 20 crip. Rest easy to Rod Reed my big homie. SO I was going to college and working in a factory at 18. Driving a new truck big rims all that. I did the triple Gold on a jeep in 1997. But the streets called me and when I met. A record exec named Shawn flex Stephen’s who worked at Laface records he put us on the Goodie Mob street team. Passing out flyers. He took us to red ant records where Salt n Peppa had deal but they said we cursed to much. So he said we wasn’t ready for Laface and fronted us some weed back then it was dro cause Flex was from Atlanta. We would bring weed to Mc Breed after Flex would drop it off to us. Me and Breed would have beboxing contests and he was good. He liked the fact I could do he Dougie fresh bebop. So after that we would sale around the area. Flex called Birdman about us coming to Cash money and making him and A&R but he was always busy. So I went to Diamond productions in Memphis and they turned us down as well. So Kingpin Skinny Pimp of rap hustlers told me get him on a hook but it never happened. Nakia Shine and Yo Gotti fell out so they never came to Kentucky So I called King George from Master P camp and he told me if I fly out to Cali he would sign me but I didnt. So we tried out for Johnnie Cochran who was suppose to form a label but that didn’t work out. So I got deeper in the streets and started selling Crack and we would take trips to Texas and get kilos for 12.5 a key and atleast 100 pounds of weed until one day me and Jamie Brown who was a first team courier journal all state football player that had left U of L got caught with 50 pounds of weed. So I dropped out of college and began taking over several counties in Kentucky. We also set up shop in Iroqouis projects in Louisville selling weight only. An operation in Parkhill and Georgetown apartments as well as in Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Cave City Glasgow, and Horse Cave which are known as side counties. That’s where we would break down the kilos and sale 20s and 30s and grams. I was catching shooting and drug charges randomly so I had several.police officers on the payroll to keep the police off me. At this time we making 20k a week and TVT records called because Daniel Creach a manager with rock groups signed to TVT bought a cd off a guy I had selling em in Nashville. I use to put dudes on buses with thousands of Cds to sale in different cities. Once they sold to Perion a producer in Florida with ties to Roy Jones but Roy upon hearing our music didn’t like us. So TVT records where Yo Gotti and Lil Jon were stars offered us a deal for 15k. But Daniel wanted a 40k finders fee because his group got cut loose from TVT and he was going to Florida to build condos with his dad.i told him we had money and didn’t need the money but TVT folded when Pitfbull sued them .So I signed a.distribution deal with BCD music group because of a.song I had with Big V of the Nappy Roots who i grew up with because he was best friends with my cousin Timmy who was like Big Meech with the bricks.Lil flip and Dj Drama had deals there as well and Devin the Dude as well as Snoop Dog. They wanted the album to say Big v presents us but I said no I wanted the clout. Well it has low first week sales because I caught a case. I ended up doing 2 state bids and 2 fed bids. I was locked up with Young Buck of Gunit..And as a jailhouse lawyer known as Ky i reduced 400 sentences for state and federal.inmates including getting 5 years off for Sherman Goose Kemp a fed magazine Alumni and member of BMF. I also reduced the sentence for the pirate that took the Navy ship the one who The Tom Hanks movie was about because in their country being a pirate was legal because United States had no treaty with their country.Freeway Rick Ross came to my coming home party but I got locked uo on an old state parole violation. So once released I went back to the streets for a Minute and toured with Bone the Mack and worked some odd jobs at radial on Cane run to keep my probation officer off me
Then an opportunity came to work with a spin off label of Dipsets. After I was at Empire for a while and was charting on iTunes top 100. And because I had signed a deal with Empire and Onerpm with Jt the Bigga figga and Gucci Gordy. So I dropped a new single with Young Bleed from No limot records called hahaha and signed khaotic of Love and hiphops cousin to my label but things didn’t work out with him. So I signed Jayypee Scooter and his song with Don Trip mond complete started streaming good. But the rap checks slowed down so I had about 40k left so I was out driving in my maserati and thought I should start a trucking company. So I out up 25k to start the trucking company and now it generates 20k.monthly. I also signed Dvd Global Empress who became a label exec at Empire and signed Cuban links, jt money. Kidd Kidd, Khia Jeffries, and king von brother. My movement sparred a movent. My success goes to God who has always had my back
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Another of my friends died on me and other friends fell out with me over girls we both messed with that everybody else was messing with. And the trucking industry is. Not easy you need non lazy people and everyday the Fmsca changes things. Musically we got a situation with Finesse 2 tymes and Warner music that went left field but I got a new song on the way with Bone the mack and Dj milticket called pop it. Also our song hahaha featuring Young Bleed is doing good
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an artist I keep it trap but lately I been writing from.a.grown man perspective. I like how Kendrick Lamar did with th Drake beef and I mess with Drake too but I really like artists who write there own music anybody can be a star if someone else is doing the work for you. I’m hands on. Shouts out to my team Jamal Gaines,Angie, and Moolah the one.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
