Meet Rachel Kovach of Middleburg Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Kovach

Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us. Can you share a bit about your journey and how you arrived at where you are today?
Absolutely! My professional journey spans over 29 years in the corporate sector, where I initially focused on sales before transitioning into marketing and project management. However, a pivotal moment came in 2015 during my wedding planning. I couldn’t find any invitation sets that truly resonated with me, so I decided to create my own. That spark of creativity led to the launch of RAD Design, where I helped countless brides design the stationery of their dreams.

In 2016, my life changed drastically with the sudden passing of my mother. To process my grief, I turned to gardening—and by 2017, I had built my first raised bed. That same year, I expanded RAD Design to focus on branding work for small to medium-sized businesses, beginning a new chapter of personal and professional growth.

I was later invited back to a previous employer where I earned my project management certification and stepped into a newly created leadership role. Four years later, in 2021, I joined a new organization and began my 200-hour yoga teacher training. In 2022, I hosted my first public workshop, “Flow and Grow,” blending yoga and gardening philosophies.

That holistic approach led to RAD Design’s transformation into Conscious Creator—an embodiment of my passion for intentional living and creative freedom. I continued to take on branding and design clients while also advocating for community-based initiatives. In 2024, I worked with my city to establish the first-ever Middleburg Heights Garden Club. Later that year, following an unexpected layoff, I leaned fully into entrepreneurship and never looked back. Most recently, in March 2025, I completed my 300-hour yoga teacher training and am now a 500-hour Certified Yoga Teacher.

What challenges have you faced along the way, and how have they shaped you?
Grief has been a profound teacher in my life. Losing my mom was a life-altering experience that ultimately helped me discover new healing practices—gardening and yoga. These became the roots of a deeper purpose: creating space for others to grow, heal, and reconnect with what matters most. The layoff I faced in 2024 was another challenge that became a powerful redirection. It gave me the push I needed to commit fully to the work that lights me up.

What are you most proud of in your journey so far?
I’m most proud of turning life’s hardest moments into something meaningful—not just for myself, but for others. Whether it’s guiding a client through their brand launch or helping a neighbor start their first garden, I feel proud to be part of something that nurtures growth. Launching the garden club and working toward a community garden in Middleburg Heights are tangible symbols of that mission in motion.

What’s next for you and Conscious Creator?
I’m continuing to build Conscious Creator into a space that supports both brands and people in growing intentionally. That includes more community workshops, expanded branding services, and a stronger presence for Root Gardening, my backyard-to-table gardening initiative. And of course, I’m thrilled to continue working toward the opening of the community garden—an outdoor classroom, gathering space, and living legacy in the making.
