Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Kovach
Hi Rachel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Straight from my old site… much easier this way – HA!
I had been in the corporate sector for over 21 years, with the first half of that time focused on sales, and the second half honing into marketing and project management. Significant life events have since led me to this new chapter of life; consulting. This is a long journey, so sit tight.
In 2015 I was in the process of wedding planning and could not find a single invitation set that I liked. I was shocked by the lack of options and customizations available, so I started my own business. RAD Design was born and I helped countless brides custom-design the stationery of their dreams. My business was soon rocked by a massive life event.
In 2016, my mother passed away suddenly. I found myself in a dark place and knew that I needed to find something to occupy my time and ground me. I started teaching myself how to garden and my first raised garden bed was built in 2017. But that wasn’t the only new growth I saw that year. I branched out from stationery design and started focusing my side business efforts on small to medium sized business branding. I was seeing expansion in many ways, personally and professionally.
Through out my career, I have always been praised for being organized, a good communicator, trustworthy, approachable, detail oriented, and a thoughtful leader. Those characteristics arguably landed me in my first role as a project manager. In that same year, 2017, I was asked to come back to a previous employer who knew my skill set. The company put me through a project management certification series and created a new role for me to fill. After spending over 4 years there, I climbed the corporate ladder with another organization starting in 2021. While there, I took yet another quantum leap in my growth by going through yoga teacher training.
I completed my 200 hour certification and I hosted my first public workshop in 2022. I named it Flow and Grow. In this hands on event, my attendees started their own seed trays and learned about care and transplanting, and how gardening correlates to living a yogic way of life off our mats. Insert ah-ha moment.
My then business, RAD Design, was reborn into Conscious Creator. The rebrand allowed me to shift from graphic design freelancing, into more robust consultant offerings. The name was chosen because everything in my life, to this point, was a conscious decision based on what my gut said was a “heck yes”. In addition, I seem to always be creating something; in my case it was gardens and brands.
Once I had the name, I continued my design work and started discussing the need for a community garden in my little city. I didn’t want to stop there, I wanted to start a garden club and lead workshops. A couple of years and several meetings with the mayor and some council members later, I kicked off the Seed to Spoon workshop series that is hosted at our community recreation center. The intention behind the workshop was to build awareness and excitement around what is coming to our beautiful community, and word travelled fast. In August of 2024, we formed the first garden club in Middleburg Heights and plan on breaking ground for the community garden in 2025.
Life has a wild way of throwing us curveballs, and mine did just that. In the same month as the garden club formation, I was suddenly laid off from my corporate role with over 8 years project management experience. I now realize that I kept searching for an organization to fill my desires of creativity and satisfy my multi-tasking nature of shifting from one portfolio to another. The corporate world couldn’t give that to me, only I could. I have also completed my 300 hour yoga teacher training as off March 2025, making me a 500 hr CYT.
Through my grief, career, and yoga journey, I learned that I am a creator of my own destiny. Conscious Creator is here to offer an eclectic array of services that set my soul on fire; gardens, brands, workshops, and yoga. I want to do what I love and teach it as I go.
So welcome to this leg of my journey. I am glad you’re here! I have two beautiful children and an adoring husband – all of which support me in more ways than I can list here. We have an old 1990 RV that we love to travel in, have family all over the map, and when we aren’t traveling we are in our backyard oasis or snuggled up reading and watching movies together. I also teach yoga on Monday nights at Yellow Brick Studio in Parma. My free time is honestly spent in my garden, at a yoga class, or with my amazing friends and family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The layoff was what forced me into the uncomfortable realm of “now is the time”. I had no choice but to leap! So while it may have been a struggle, it was a no-brainer and necessary for me to start pouring into my businesses.
I think the other struggle was really delineating between my offerings and branding myself accordingly. It’s tough, when you are the only hinge pin between services. As the common denominator, I found it easier to coin myself as a consultant and then I was able to peel it all back and start from the ground up.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do quite a bit – According to my Conscious Creator LLC tagline, I “cultivate growth and nourish brands”… in a nut shell.
I have two DBA’s: Conscious Creator Consulting (freelance graphic design focused on brand marketing) and Root Gardening (kitchen garden consulting, coaching, and installations).
Conscious Creator Consulting: I specialize in taking my project management skills and applying them in both realms of work. For my graphic design work, I maintain organized client portfolios. Majority of my clients are repeat and monthly billings, with majority of my leads generated from word of mouth. I strive for authenticity in how I work. My Approach is simple. I am a branding enthusiast with a passion for helping entrepreneurs and small businesses shine. I believe in authenticity, collaboration, and creating designs that feel like an extension of who they are. The brand embodies the heart of a business, serving as its voice and visual identity. My approach focuses on crafting brands that authentically connect with their audience, aligning every element with your unique mission and values.

Root Gardening: If I’m not tending to my own backyard garden and greenhouse, you’ll probably find me knee-deep in a client’s tomato patch. Growing up, I fell in love with the smell of fresh herbs and the simple joy of watching something flourish from seed to harvest. From a young age, I always admired my fathers love of gardening. Some of my fondest memories were watching the garden grow; from his custom built irrigation system, to his tending tips and attention to details, I think my appreciation for the hobby started around eight years old. As I got older and began to dive into my ancestry, I discovered a love of gardening was deeply rooted in both my maternal and paternal sides. It’s no wonder why I gravitated to the hobby, finding peace with my hands in the dirt. Root is my way of sharing that joy with my clients—one seedling, one consultation, one monthly checkup at a time, rooting you on every step of the way.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was generally a quiet, well-mannered kiddo. I really flew under the radar. I enjoyed school, I had friends in all kinds of various “groups” – from the popular bunch, to athletes, and band or drama folks. I was never afraid of change, and always wanted to keep growing and learning new things. I always learned new technologies quickly. I kept to myself and managed good grades while starting my working career at the ripe age of 14.5…. I recall getting the workers permit and all. I used to hate public speaking… I would get so red in the face. Now here I am, working one on one and in large groups, educating, entertaining, and leading others into hobbies and dream careers of their own!
