My Love for Gaming: From Passion to Connection
Gaming has always been a big part of my life—some of my earliest memories are of me holding a controller, immersed in the magical worlds on the screen. Over time, as technology evolved and the world grew increasingly interconnected, I realized gaming could be much more than just a quiet pastime. It could be a way to forge bonds and create communities.
During the pandemic, I found myself navigating the whirlwind of new motherhood, feeling the isolation that came with the times. It was then that I received a Nintendo Switch and discovered Animal Crossing, and my perspective on gaming shifted. What began as a soothing escape quickly grew into something more: streaming my gameplay to others. This venture not only combated the solitude I felt but also brought together a wonderfully eclectic community—one that welcomed me as my unfiltered, authentic self.
On my channel, I explored worlds both fierce and cozy, playing games like Mortal Kombat alongside calming titles like Animal Crossing. Whether battling it out or designing idyllic villages, the experience taught me how games could connect and bring joy to a diverse audience.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My gaming journey has been smooth , I am a people person so that helped a bunch i had to learn so much and still learn new things to make my streams better
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What I love about my work is that I get to be there for people on what is usually the best of days but can sometimes be the worse. I am Labor and Delivery Nurse. I joined this field after my own birth experience and because my grandma always told me to be the change I wish to see. I wanted to increase the diversity and equity in the healthcare field. I am most proud of the fact that I can safely do my job and the connections I make with the families I care for. What sets me apart from others is I see my patients and their families even when they are hesitant to say what they are thinking or ask the questions. I have a way of getting the information our and quelling that fair or clearing up the confusion.
I am known for the being the nurse who’s favorite color is purple and having the analogies to make medical explanations more digestible. It’s funny that’s the one characteristic all patients use to describe me even if they don’t remember my name.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I always joke that I am a forgotten middle child. I was often left to my own devices. I would be described as particular. I liked what I what and I like and there wasn’t too much room for negotiation. I’ve always been a people person and I enjoyed being outside with my friends. When we were inside it was movies, nails, girl talk and books. I loved to read I can completely ignore a fire in the room with a good book. That’s still the case today. When it came to gaming, we used to go to Blockbuster and my mom would allow us to rent new games to try. That’s how I discovered Kingdom Hearts. Gaming was always a family/community activity. I remember playing tetris with my mom, trading video games with friends and the day I finally beat my older brother in Mortal Kombat for the first time when we previously thought he was unbeatable; the joy and congratulations from my siblings/cousins as I was the first to do it. As cool as I am sure all this sounds I was definitely a nerd. I enjoyed learning and school. Every opportunity is a time to learn something new and I jump at it
