Meet Michelob Williamson of Lebanon, Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelob Williamson

Hi Michelob, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I really started getting into writing hip hop music back in 2018. I spent hours and days on in writing endlessly with hopes that one day I’d be able to actually release music. Then In 2019 I released my first single titled Anthem. I managed to get a contract with a guy I went to the same high school with. I work a full-time job and have been working at Wendy’s unfortunately just to be able to fund my music and purchase beats while also paying bills and making it out here in the most honest way I possibly can. Today I’m nowhere near as far as I wish I could be but that’s okay because this sorta thing takes time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has by far not been the smoothest road whatsoever. I’m doing this the most honest way possible. I work a full-time job and have been bouncing around from place to place just hoping and praying I can settle down soon. Lack of transportation, lack of housing, and lack of family really takes a toll on trying to make dreams like this happen

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As I said before, I’m an independent hip hop artist. I’m known for my resilience and my resolve to get what I need to get done, done. If I have to set my music aside temporarily then I absolutely will. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come with my craft. I’ve definitely come a long way and have developed many skills in such a short amount of time with my craft. I still have a long way to go and what sets me apart from other artists is I will never stoop down to drug dealing and other illegal activities to get by. I will never write music that’s about any of that unless its about where I came from. I used to be deep in addiction and I beat it for my sake and for my musics sake.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I honestly didn’t really learn anything from the COVID crisis. I haven’t been sick myself in over 15 years.
