Meet Megan Perry of 60cc Brewing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Perry.

Megan Perry

Hi Megan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started brewing with my husband in our garage/kitchen depending on the weather, about 14 years ago. We really enjoyed it and found out we made really good beer. We decided to take the jump into commercial brewing. 60cc Brewing has been open just over 2 years.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have not been a smooth road. Originally, we wanted to brew at home and distribute kegs until our girls were old enough for us to be busier. It ended up that we would have been forced to make way too many modifications to the house. Then covid hit and we finally decided to start looking again and found our current location on Reynolds Rd. We had several issues getting plans through the city approved. Then the state took forever to approve the license transfer from our house to the new location because they were so backed up from covid. The first year and a half was up and down but I feel we are getting into a groove and are starting to get more consistent business.

We’ve been impressed with 60cc Brewing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
60cc Brewing is a woman-owned business… I am also the head brewer. We have 10 taps of craft beer made in-house along with a limited-release tap which is just a 5-gallon batch, when it’s gone it won’t be back for a while. We also always have 1-2 ciders on tap. We like to offer a wide variety of craft beer styles. We will always have a few dark beers with several IPAs and then some specialty fun beers for the adventurous types.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The craft beer industry in Ohio is still growing. The nice thing about the industry is that we love having more breweries nearby because it makes the area more of a destination. Toledo is definitely getting to be that. I am seeing more people coming to Toledo and either doing a day trip to hit a few breweries or staying overnight to try and get them all.
