Meet Mason McCloskey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mason McCloskey. 

Hi Mason, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Mason McCloskey and I go by the stage name Mason MC. Recently I’ve been signed to OceanFive Records and this is my story! I am a 16-year-old musical artist who lives in the Cincinnati area. I started making music just 8 months ago when I was asked to make a song about math for a school project. Almost instantly I fell in love with making music! I’ve made it my goal to start making music that matters and music that could make a difference in the world! Recently, I just hit over 20,000 streams on Spotify, received over 1 million TikTok views, and have gotten over 100,000 views on YouTube. I am greatly appreciative of this and would like to announce my new upcoming single “Sinner” that is releasing June 10th! 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I really struggled producing the music and making it quality. I’m just a kid, so I don’t have $100’s-$1000’s of dollars to spend on Studio time and other recording equipment. Still, I made the best of what I had, worked around people who said I could never do it and recorded a single that got over 30,000 streams worldwide. Not to mention this single was recorded over multiple nights in my cold garage with Apple Headphones. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make music and I try my best to make music that’ll make people look at life differently. Whether it’s my song “POP IT OFF” which has an uplifting/pop type of style and is telling people to find whatever they want to do and “POP Off” at it, or if it’s my new release coming out on June 10th, “Sinner”, which focuses on my struggle to find not only God but something to believe in within my life. 

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
It would probably be Sports. A lot of people know me as just a guy who makes music, but I offer a lot more than that as well. I am the Goalkeeper for a high-level Academy soccer program, I am also the Starting Varsity kicker for my high school’s football team, and I was in the top 3 scorers for my high school’s soccer team!
