Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Shephard.
Hi Logan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
What a journey it has been so far!!! Dreams come true! Beginning at an early age, a passion for movies started, and growing up it was a timeless escape that captured me. I fell in love with films and television, that kept getting stronger. As I met one friend that asked me to be background for a little (not so little) movie called Dirty Grandpa, starring Zac Efron and Robert De Niro. Day one I was infatuated with this whole other world behind the scenes. As I was asked to be Zac Efron’s Stand-in… (WHAT???) yes, it’s true and I got to meet him and in a way be him! Talk about the greatest feeling! From then on, I knew this was my calling and I had to full force go with it as it’s the only thing I could think about every minute and still do 8 years later. I then booked a featured spot being a “dancer” in Alvin and the Chipmunks Roadchip! Shortly after I returned home, I packed my bags and moved to Savannah, Georgia, and met with an agency named Halo Models and Talent. To represent me I went through an audition process and I recreated a monologue that landed me with to sign with them! Working with Halo led to another agency I signed with who I’m with still with today. I did Print (magazine) work and Commercials but still really wanted to be in movies, right? I needed acting classes and headshots and oh so much more, where do I go? In 2017 I moved back to Ohio and found an acting class in Cincinnati (CAS/Cincinnati Actors Studio) that provided a great step and helped greatly. From improv and self-development to specializing in emotion and script analysis, breaking down how to create a character and who that person is. Starring in my first Independent film as the Lead just a couple months in. I’ve now been in 4 television shows 5 commercials 10 film/movies 9 short films, YouTube series such as Mudblood Part1 and Slasherverse (Halloween), and 6 music videos over the years and the amazing people I’ve worked with and got to meet is so inspiring. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t met them and I owe them a great deal of gratitude. I think how I got to this point is a pure love for the art and dedication, there’s a lot that isn’t shown or said but with hundreds of auditions and rejections, tears and heartbreaking moments and trial and error. You just have to keep pushing and never doubt yourself. Iv recently signed with another agency in Ohio widely known as Heyman Talent! I love being able to bring a character to life and bringing emotions to the fullest whether that be funny, scary, anger, sad, or thrilling.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been so smooth. There are definite struggles and growing pains. First struggle was 2016 after I was on a Tom Cruise film, I was only able to work one day because on my way home I was in a horrible car accident that totaled the car and took me away from film for a little bit. I was uninjured but everything felt like it was put on hold. I continued to work on my skills and went to acting classes and countless auditions that were rejected. As things were on an uprise after my first few projects, I felt it was time to move to Los Angeles and it was absolutely everything I expected and felt perfect. That is until I was unable to live in the house, I was told I could sublease. I then was struggling to live out of my car and couldn’t find work. Yikes… let’s head home I said as I cried this is too hard. I regrouped after that and tracked more ground through the years. I worked on short films in Cleveland, TV shows in Knoxville, and Independent films in Cincinnati, and even wrote produced, and starred in my own short films for Film Festivals. As money was the biggest struggle to keep, I worked day jobs serving that was never enough, I didn’t know what to do. Especially when my next car decided to engine fail and needed to replaced. Maybe this is harder than I thought, should I get a new career? NO!! Maybe I should look into Atlanta Georgia to live I told myself. Well, there is work there but that not where I want to be, I want to be back in Los Angeles. I saved up and luck stuck. I could be roommates with a friend from acting class. I packed up and moved again!! A short while later It was hard to sleep on a blow-up mattress in the corner (lol) we made it work for a bit and I’m so grateful for that until it didn’t and we both saw that. I then packed up and moved back to Ohio where I’m at today until I’m ready to find my next place to live.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actor, and I am known for being an actor. Telling myself I will always be one and through ups and downs that’s who I am to the core. I believe I specialize in dramatic scenes, giving the audience a sense of feeling what I feel. I would be known for being a friendly guy who people like to work with. I am most proud of who I’ve changed into over the good and struggling times. The confidence iv built from being shy. Everything is different day to day and I am as well. I think what sets me apart from others is not to hold onto the bad and keep moving, chasing the happiness within me and not settling for less. I’m not afraid to fail or risk everything over and over again.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see huge growth in my industry and my life within the next 5-10 years. Putting in thousands of hours into creating your craft is what helps the next day, month, and year. Working on that has helped, even not seeing it but just knowing it will pay off down the road. Big shifts are when you work with someone who either wants to work with you again and again or refers you to someone who wants to meet you or have you in their next project. I’ve recently has huge shifts within my industry where I was at the right place right time and those thousand hours came into play. For example, this! I worked with this person for years on many projects and it’s lead me to be here providing you with such story!
