Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Mickler.
Hi Lindsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was honored to be a Baby Quest Foundation grant recipient in 2014. With the hope and support provided by the foundation, my husband, Ron, and I were able to pursue In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), and in December 2015, we welcomed our twin boys, Miles and Chandler, into the world.
In 2016, I stayed connected with Pamela Hirsch, founder of Baby Quest Foundation, and began lending my support through social media efforts. What started as a heartfelt way to pay it forward—and a growing interest in the foundation’s mission—naturally evolved into deeper involvement, and led me to join the Board of Directors.
Today, more than nine years later, I’m proud to be part of the Baby Quest team, advocating for those navigating infertility and working behind the scenes to expand the foundation’s reach. Current role is social media manager and communications but we all do so much more! I’ve had the privilege of watching Baby Quest grow into a powerful force of change, helping an increasing number of individuals and couples overcome financial barriers to parenthood through treatments like IVF, egg, sperm, and embryo donation, and surrogacy.
Being a part of this mission—from recipient to board member and advocate—has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While I may not have founded Baby Quest, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the challenges and growth the foundation has experienced over the years. Like many nonprofits, Baby Quest faces the constant challenge of balancing overwhelming demand with limited funding—there are far more deserving applicants than grants available.
Raising awareness is another hurdle, as infertility is still a deeply personal and often stigmatized topic, making it difficult to reach both potential donors and those in need of help. Securing consistent donations remains a struggle, especially in uncertain economic times, and public misconceptions about fertility treatments only add to the uphill climb.
On top of that, the emotional weight of reading heartbreaking stories and having to turn people away is something the team never takes lightly. Despite these challenges, the foundation continues to grow and make a profound impact—and I’m proud to have been part of that journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Funds Awarded: $3.25 million
Number of Grants: 250+
Babies Born with Baby Quest Support: 200
Infertility impacts about one in eight women. Baby Quest Foundation offers financial support to those struggling with the high costs of fertility treatments like IVF (in vitro fertilization), gestational surrogacy, egg and sperm donation, embryo donation, and egg freezing.
Who Can Apply?
Baby Quest welcomes applicants from all across the United States, regardless of gender, marital status, or sexual orientation. The foundation is committed to inclusivity, providing assistance to individuals and couples from various backgrounds who meet the medical criteria and demonstrate financial need.
How the Grant Process Works
Grants are awarded biannually through a thorough online application process. Applicants must provide personal and medical histories, financial details, and a medical form completed by a reproductive specialist. A dedicated review committee carefully evaluates each submission, considering both medical and financial factors.
How to Support Baby Quest
Baby Quest relies on donations, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events to fund its mission. Individuals can contribute by donating, attending events, or hosting fundraisers. Every dollar raised goes directly toward funding grants, bringing hope to those who might otherwise be unable to afford fertility treatments. By supporting Baby Quest, you help make the dream of parenthood a reality for those who need it most.
