Today we’d like to introduce you to Layla Dia
Hi Layla, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always loved taking photos in middle school, but during high school was when I really started to take things seriously and loved taking photos of my friends. I took a lot of my friends senior photos!
From there it blossomed into my greatest passion and I’ve met so many amazing people along the way!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I went through a lot of creative challenges. I used to take really creative and editorial style photos and pivoted to weddings and families and that was a big challenge for me creatively, but I love that I powered through and made that transition.
I’ve also really struggled finding consistency in my work early on, but those things build you into a great photographer!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I photograph families, couples and weddings. Those are kind of my specialties. Early on, I think I was known for my creative portrait work.
In my career now I like to think I’m known for my film style photos, and my documentary style photography.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I’m extremely easy going and adaptable. I feel like that’s vital for a photographer and especially at a wedding. I try to be selfless, helpful and friendly, always.
