Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Meisberger.
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was a little kid, I would watch travel shows in lieu of cartoons and dream of all of the places I could go and all of the people I could meet and photograph. That love stayed with me and I went to the University of Cincinnati to study Photojournalism. My mom used to say “if the bus is leaving, Lauren is on it,” and that was so true! I’ve been to many places and met many people and always taken my camera along the way. Studying photojournalism put together the connection between taking a good photo and photographing someone as they are. I learned to sit and watch and see what someone looks like when they’re at their happiest, most natural self and when to take their photo to reflect that.
I met my husband and business partner at UC. We started dating and documented a wedding in our first week of dating. We enjoyed documenting “one of the best day’s of someone’s life,” as I always say, and decided to turn it into a business. We worked through college, documenting weddings and began freelancing for business and brands after college.
Today we get to do what we love and create image libraries for brands and businesses all over and we still do a few weddings a year.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Working for myself has always been my end goal, so every struggle or hurdle has come with a calm determination to work through it and myself and the process.
Getting started, I said a loud “Yes!” to any and every project I was offered. This means working on birthdays and holidays and too many hours and days in a row, but I never regret how much work I put in because it led me to so many great relationships and opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in creating custom image libraries that help brands and businesses build a strong, cohesive visual identity. From brand storytelling to website and social media content, I create high-quality imagery that aligns with each client’s voice and marketing goals.
In addition to commissioned work, I offer curated stock photography collections designed for businesses that want elevated, authentic visuals for their campaigns. Whether it’s for digital marketing, social media, or print, my focus is always on creating images that connect and stand out.
Photography allows me to document the world in a way that feels both intimate and timeless. My work focuses on the beauty of everyday moments, and the stories of people and places.
I’m proud of all of the clients I’ve served in the past 11 years and the range of work that I’ve done. It’s also always thrilling to come across my work on billboards!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I get my best ideas and I’m inspired by talking to people I know and people I don’t. Everyone has something you can learn from and I’m always open to learning from anyone.
