Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road by any stretch of the imagination.
In my childhood, we moved 7 times due to the income and life changes of surviving with a single parent and siblings.
I got kicked out of my Alma Mater the Cleveland School of the Arts in 8th grade due to an obsession for theater and zero interest in anything else, only to return 2 years later and be gifted a second chance to prove myself by re auditioning.
Got accepted into a performing arts college (AMDA), but financially could not attend.
Parents divorced when I was 2, Father wasn’t around for 6 years growing up, stepfather and mother divorced at 12, biological father came back into the picture (maternally not romantically) and started attending plays and brothers’ sporting events.
Evictions and Repossessions in my 20s due to lack of financial literacy early on.
Car broke down after graduating from the National Holistic Institute with a degree in Massage Therapy.
Moved an additional 14 times in Los Angeles, California 2015-2019
Biological father passed away at 60 December 17th, 2021.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a writer, comedian, rapper, and actor.
I am most proud of winning an Emmy award at 19 years old for a reenactment on “Crimestoppers Case Files” (I’m more proud of the achievement than my performance in the episode. Lol)
I am known for making people laugh. I started a production company in 2021 called “Purple Brick Productions, LLC” with the hopes of educating and entertaining others with sketch comedy, hip hop music, and movies. with a focus on African American culture and mental wellness.
what sets me apart from others is versatility. I am able to umbrella all of my gifts and talents into one piece of art that has something for every audience, and that is truly valuable and rare to find in content creators nowadays. I am team-minded, but I am also able to lead in areas of performance that my 15-year career has afforded me training-wise and skill-set-wise. I have every tool in the toolbox to keep you entertained.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality or characteristic I feel is most important to my success is my optimism.
Looking at the glass half full has always helped me adapt to circumstances that feel out of my control.
Using my brain creatively by looking for solutions and ways to solve the problem instead of giving up, making excuses, or complaining, has been the difference-maker in motivating me to continue forward in the pursuit of my dreams.
