Meet Kristin Karg of The Browtique By Kristin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Karg.

Hi Kristin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had been envious of my mom and my sister’s beautiful microbladed eyebrows for a couple years but refused to spend the money to get mine done. After having my son in 2020, I won a weight loss challenge the summer of 2021 and used the money to get myself the perfect set of brows. When I went for my appointment, I was in awe of the process, and I loved how relaxed I felt. The moment I sat up and looked at the finished brows, I thought to myself, “How did I wait this long.” Microblading was an instant confidence booster, and I felt like it just brought out my natural beauty by centering the focus on my face. I couldn’t help but think, “What if I could give this same feeling to others?” The entire time I was at that appointment, I was thinking, “I have the perfect setup for this at home; I think this is something I could do.” I fell in love with microblading so much that day that I called my husband and my sister on my way home and said, “I think I am going to start a microblading business!” I had so much support from the very beginning. I researched that first day to make sure it was something I could do from my home; I was already working as a home health physical therapy assistant, and I knew I wanted the flexibility of running the business from my home and still seeing patients until I could build up my clientele. Once I was sure I could run the business from home, I began making over the lower level of my home and getting it ready for a health inspection. I began the process of setting up my microblading business in October of 2021 and had already done hundreds of hours of research online, taken the required training courses, and passed the health inspection by the middle of December 2021. Since opening in December of 2021, I have met so many amazing women. I get no greater joy than seeing my Brow Beauties out in public, rocking the badass set of brows that I created. Suffield is a small town, and I love being at school events for my kids and seeing all my Brow Beauties. Business is great, and I look forward to continuing to grow over the coming years.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle has been balancing my job as a home health physical therapy assistant with my microblading business, especially as I have recently had to turn down a lot of physical therapy patients as I get busier at The Browtique By Kristin. I just feel bad saying no to taking on patients but would ultimately like to be so busy with microblading that I won’t need to worry about balancing the two anymore.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I run a microblading and manual shading business and am known for giving a very natural-looking brow shape that is tailored to each individual client. I do not pay for advertising. I currently use sponsorships and donations of/to sports teams, church groups, and other organizations in the area to promote my business, as well as my Facebook and Instagram pages. I only post pictures of MY actual work on my social media. However, 80% of my clients are referrals from previous clients who have been helping me spread the word about my business from day 1. I have a referral program where I offer $25 off your yearly touch-up for every referral I receive from my clients. My prices are some of the best in the area. I love nothing more than running into my Brow Beauties in the area and hearing about how much they love their brows!!!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think Microblading has just started to become popular in our area over the last couple years, and the popularity will just continue to grow. I am hoping to see more men use this service and the stigma associated with men getting Microblading to be reduced in the years to come. There are plenty of eyebrow trends going around right now. I think it is important to checkout your artist’s work to make sure they have the Microblading style you are looking for. If you are looking for a natural-looking, beautiful set of brows with a well-defined shape, I am your girl!
