Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Russell

Kristen , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My personal fitness journey began in 2019 when I decided to transform my life after facing pregnancy and postpartum complications. I didn’t recognize myself and was not happy with who I saw looking back at me in the mirror. I gained over 60 pounds, being the heaviest I’ve ever been at 260lbs and a size 16. Through hard work, dedication, and loving myself again I lost 85lbs and got down to a size 10. Inspired by my own transformation, I became an ISSA certified personal trainer and glute specialist in 2021. I specialize in women’s fitness, postpartum fitness, weight loss, muscle toning, and strength training. My mission is to help other women love their bodies, build self-esteem, and feel empowered throughout their fitness journeys.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been far from smooth. It is extremely difficult to undo unhealthy habits and learn new ways to better care for yourself.

Some of the struggles I faced were trying to prioritize myself and create a workout routine around being a mom, full time employee, a college student, and running a business. Another struggle was creating healthier eating habits that I could stay consistent with to reach those fitness goals I set for myself. I had to become intentional and deliberate on what it was I was trying to achieve. Giving myself grace throughout my process and learning patience was also one of my main struggles.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a personal trainer that specializes in women’s fitness. I focus on weight loss, strength training, muscle toning, and glute gains. I am known for the transparency of my fitness journey through my social media pages and getting such significant results naturally. I am most proud of my own personal fitness journey and showing women that it is possible to get the body you want regardless of how social media has influenced us view ourselves. I do this for the females who aren’t an instagram models, but those who live regular lives and still believe they are still worthy of being the best version of themselves. I think what sets me apart from others is the fact that I have been able to start my fitness journey at a heavier weight and transform without medication and cosmetic surgery. It’s always easier to have a naturally smaller frame trying to reach fitness goals versus being considered a bigger person and making the change.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
The people who have played a big role in my success include are Tony Scruggs and Cierra Smith.

Tony Scruggs was my first personal trainer who also is my uncle. He has been a powerhouse in fitness and helped me get back in the gym. My uncle pushed me past what I thought I was capable of. He motivated me to take it further and start helping others as well.

Cierra Smith is a long time friend who’s grown close to me like a sister. We started in the fitness industry at the same time as personal trainers and she has been my gym sister since day one. She helps hold me accountable in and out the gym. We collaborate and support each other with our personal training businesses.
