Meet Kimberly Fletcher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Fletcher.

Kimberly Fletcher

Hi Kimberly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I founded Moms for America in 2004 in Dayton, Ohio. It started in a living room in Dayton, Ohio, with 27 women and has grown to a national network of over 500,000 moms in all 50 U.S. States. I founded the organization out of a concern for the direction our country was going. I realized the media is not truthful, Government representatives were largely self-serving at best, utterly corrupt at worst, and that the American people, especially moms, were completely unaware of Marxist/ communist influence in our country that was marginalizing the Constitution and incrementally tearing at the very fabric of our nation. I got an even bigger picture of how insidious this movement to destroy our country is when I ran for school board in Fredericksburg, VA, in 2003 and realized they were using our children to do it. Even more, I recognized the need for civics education and true history, that was lacking in schools and has been for decades. How can you save a country and protect your freedoms when you don’t even realize what you have?

My objective was to share the story of America, the principles of liberty, and the Constitution with mothers who would gain a passion and love of liberty and then share that love of liberty with their children and within their sphere of influence. In 2012, we launched the Cottage Meeting to do that in a powerful way. You can get more information on the Cottage Meetings at the following link. https://momsforamerica.us/cottage-meetings/

In 2015, we launched our School Board project, empowering moms with information on what is happening in their schools and providing resources to be more effective in their civic engagement. In 2021, we partnered with National School Board Leadership Council to train school board members on their responsibilities and authority to be more effective and compliant with the law in their role.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been a lot of struggles. Funding is always a challenge, especially as we grow. We have had threats against us from organizations and individuals that do not agree with us. We have had setbacks and big growth periods. All have been a challenge, but we learned a great deal from each experience, and it has helped us be better at what we do and how we do it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the president and founder of Moms for America, mother of 8, and wife to a retired Air Force officer.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
There are people who have gone before you. Learn from them. Read “How to Win Friends and Influence People” and take leadership classes. The one most important thing I could share is the definition of a true leader. A true leader is a servant leader. They are someone who does not ask anyone else to do what they would not do themselves. They listen and measure pros and cons. Once they have looked at the issue, they make a decision and back it up. But they are also willing to accept when they are wrong and be willing recalculate. When you are that kind of person, people will follow and want to work with you. And they will know if you are sincere or just faking it.
