Meet Kevin Zamora of The Law Offices of Kevin W. Zamora LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Zamora

Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Gahanna, Ohio. My parents are from Columbus and Fremont, Ohio. My father’s side of the family has Chicano roots going back to Texas, so I was exposed to the Spanish language throughout my childhood. Deciding to connect with these family roots, I studied Spanish extensively in High School and College. I majored in International Studies and minored in Spanish at Bowling Green State University. I graduated in 2010. Thereafter, I worked as an English as a Foreign Language teacher for the better part of the next four years. The English teaching jobs took me to Spain, China, and Chile. While still living in Chile, I began to explore an alternative career path with more capacity to make more lasting impact and change to people’s lives. I decided that I wanted to become an international lawyer and prepped for the LSAT. I was accepted into Capital University Law School, beginning classes in 2014. While at Capital I participated in Moot Court and was the President of the Hispanic Law Students’ Association for two years. While hosting an event, I met Catalina Parra, whom I later married. She coincidently is from Chile too. During law school, I worked for several different attorneys, learning how to manage immigration cases, criminal cases, family law cases, and personal injury cases. When I was admitted to the Ohio Bar in May of 2019, I immediately posted on Facebook, “Kevin Zamora is a lawyer now!” Messages for legal help began to trickle in. My wife worked for a Jordanian restaurant at the time. Between my Facebook contacts, my friends in the Hispanic community and contacts in the Arabic community that we met through my wife’s then employer I was able to build a significant client base rapidly. Since 2019 I have continued to take on a variety of cases including family law, criminal law, personal injury and immigration. I have eight hardworking law clerks and a couple of part time co-counsel attorneys to assist me with managing my caseload. During these past five years, I have expanded the practice to serve members of the local Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Haitian Creole speaking communities throughout Ohio and (as for the immigration cases only since immigration is federal law) in the rest of the country. I have been able to provide holiday presents for low-income clients for the past four years with some of the profits that I have been fortunate enough to make. I have also had the privilege to assist in sponsoring community events such as the Children’s Day Festival and the Venezuelan Music Festival in 2024.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As one can imagine, the family law, immigration law, and criminal law cases are not always smooth rides. Some of the struggles have included people being deported, serving prison sentences, and ex-spouses being at each other’s throats during divorce proceedings. I try to remain positive and encouraging to my clients and constantly seek out the most advantageous outcome for each’s legal needs and never forgetting the human element of these matters.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Law Offices of Kevin W. Zamora LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My law firm has been able to serve over a thousand clients in a variety of practice areas. We strive to provide a one-stop-shop experience for our clients’ legal needs. Although there are some areas like bankruptcy, tax law, and workers’ compensation that I refer to colleagues. I have invested heavily in my full-time staff to ensure that deadlines are met, phone calls and emails are promptly returned and that my clients have the best possible outcomes according to each’s particular legal situations. I utilize Clio Draft and Lexis Nexis for argument and document presentation. The majority of my clients hear about me by word of mouth. I occasionally meet new clients at the Immigration and Customs Enforcment (“ICE”) office in Westerville when accompanying clients at their check-in dates. The most satisfying moments in the business are getting a not guilty verdict in a felony case, getting an asylum application granted in the immigration court, helping clients obtain their work permits, winning a hefty settlement against an insurance company in a car accident case, and reuniting parents with their children in domestic cases. I look forward to expanding by hopefully hiring new attorneys to work with me and purchasing my next office building downtown. In the meantime, I’m just tackling each case at a time with my knowledge, experience, and loyal team of employees.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Networking through different language interpreters has really allowed me to tap into an array of different communities of clients. I would recommend being open minded as to using an interpreter and as to which types of clients you can take if you are able to take on representation. Stay hungry, humble, and ambitious!
