Meet Johnnie Legrair of South east Akron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnnie Legrair.

Hi Johnnie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m guessing you are more interested in the athletic performance improvement Training for all sports, rather than DJ and announcing events.
The performance improvement training was not something I ever imagined doing. A few decades ago I saw some athletes moving/running and thought, that looks terrible and probably should hurt !
From there I learned as much as I could from people who did mov well while performing a sport. I looked at dozens of videos from well prepared athletes, and spoke to physicians about movement and injuries. Through research and many discussions with lots of people smarter than me, I could see a very common thread. Errors repeated over and over again by athletes. Many times the errors caused. “Preventable” injuries. Through developing corrections on a case by case basis I could see why so many athletes did not perform well and often had injuries from minor performance altering pain to end of season injuries. Unfortunately, female athletes suffered more than male athletes. Having five active sisters, I saw injuries. I did not see in my male friends at the same age ! Over time I leaned a few common mistakes that causes poor performance and lack of confidence for athletes. I was fortunate enough to be able to have Olympian’s, very good athletes and physicians to talk to and learn from their successes and failures. I developed a few extremely common corrections to common athletic movement issues. We can discuss and review at length, at another’ time.
Among a critical component to athletic improvement was a very simple remedy. Kids did not care how much I knew, until they knew how how much I care !
Athletic improvement is best completed in phases. I don’t recommend moving to the next phase without at least 98% of satisfactory completion of the previous Phase. I have been lucky enough to have been part of the chain training athletes from eight to 80 that have had success in athletics. Including a few pro. Football. Players, baseball, basketball and track and field. Including the. Success of my own children.
Simple philosophy. Work smarter while working harder. When you start to believe it, you start to achieve it. Academically and athletically.
This is a snapshot of performance improvement and athletic preparation with some injury prevention assistance.
I could talk about this for a few days. !
Thank you for your interest.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Mostly smooth. Bumps have been big ego coaches that really don’t know!!!
They don’t know that they don’t know, that they just don’t know , that they just don’t know!!!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My specialty is the little things. That require diligent work and attention that most people ignore. I’m told by many, I have a very, very, good eye for talent identification. With that identification, significant improvement comes with correct development needed to achieve success. Every athlete will not go to the Olympics or be a professional athlete. But, if your first 100M race time is 14.0 and seven weeks later your time is 13.3 !!!! Success.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Akron is a nice little town. I think we miss multiple opportunities to help more people in all facets of life. We also have the worse roadways in the free world along with extremely poorly time traffic signals !!!
