Today we’d like to introduce you to Joanne Holbert.
Hi Joanne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my solo counseling practice in 2010 in the back of a pediatric office. By 2014, I was so busy I needed to hire other practitioners and buy a building. By 2019, the 8 office building needed an addition, and we now have 20 offices, additional needed parking, and a beautiful waiting room. We are completing additional space in the basement for group activities. We have therapists training new therapists, and several of our therapists have certifications in EMDR, substance abuse treatment, play therapy, post partum counseling, and cognitive behavioral therapy, to name a few. We provide counseling to children, adolescents, adults of all ages, couples counseling, and family counseling. We have doctoral level therapists, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, master level counselors and marriage/family therapists, as well as social workers and speech therapists. We provide speakers for trainings, have certified crisis responders, and collaborate with several medical practices and school systems.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly the pandemic posed some obstacles and huge changes, and there have been some good things (like telehealth) that have come out of the pandemic. Also, attempting an addition at that time presented many challenges especially with the initial builder leaving town and needing to start over with a new builder.

I grew up here, raised my children here, and they are raising their children here. I hope we are offering the community a very needed service. Wadsworth has grown immensely over the 50 years that I have been here and it is an honor to be part of that growth.
