Jeramy Desean Perry

Hi Jeramy Desean, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
This journey started back as far as my middle school days. Loved theatre, art of all kinds and to really get into different characters. Always looking to be the funny guy, yet wanted to set out to a different path. I was indeed interested in modeling and acting but lacked the confidence and knowledge to pursue either. A close friend of mine at the time started a clothing brand. I swore to her that I’d be her biggest supporter rocking the brand and did just that.

One photoshoot turned into 20 and overtime I got more comfortable in front of the camera. Now 22, working with multiple different photographers, choreographers, artists and creative directors, I have grown to truly have an appreciation for these fields.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Through my experiences I’ve gained insightful knowledge about myself. Especially on how to handle situations better, how to be professional in certain settings, or how to truly use my voice when I need to. This has not been easy in the slightest bit. 2021, losing a loved one who inspired me so much creatively. Ashley White, a 21 year old entrepreneur who did her best navigating her losses to wins. A true go getter, and a real diamond in the rough.

Battling depression, losing my car when I had no job to support myself, taking the bus or constantly uber-ing to photoshoots to make it on time, I can seriously name 100 things wrong. But what got me through it was what was right. And that’s Jesus, and him alone. Peace, patience, kindness, love and compassion, a loving father to me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I would not short cut myself by labeling myself into one category. A few titles I go by include a chef, model, actor, host, YouTuber, poet, and even song writer. Though, I am most known for my comedy skits and acting.

Mindset is key, I am most proud of actually getting out there while I’m young. Being an example, trying to do what’s right even when you don’t want to is what sets you apart. Even with no support sometimes you have to just keep going, be consistent and love yourself through the struggle. It’s easy to lose yourself these days. The world is so fast, life is constantly evolving and those who you think are with you aren’t always.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Try to find valid photographers that are serious with a portfolio or social media. Always be looking, and let Pinterest be a friend to you. When working get everything back documented, you don’t want any funny business especially when money is involved.

If you don’t already know the photographer and it’s not at a studio or venue say NO. Trust your gut if something doesn’t feel legit. Not saying doubt everything but be careful.
