Meet Jahmaica Leary of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jahmaica Leary.

Hi Jahmaica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started off modeling because I was a very shy kid and my mom wanted to help me boost my confidence. Id always love taking photos, playing in makeup, messing with fashion and creating my own outfits so it was perfect.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I never really felt like I fit in at most of my schools. One being predominantly black i was told I talk too white or just that I was weird. And the others were predominantly white and I was one of the few black girls. I felt so different and I felt I was expected to act a certain way because of my race. I never truly felt very beautiful at the white schools compared to my peers. Then eventually I grew into my confidence and started to embrace my beauty and differences through modeling and acting

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im a commercial print model with experience in runway and music video work

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Ive had one mentor who helped me get into Heyman talent agency. We previously worked together when I was about 15 at a different agency where I wasnt getting many auditions. Her name is Kara Wade
