Today we’d like to introduce you to Gwendolyn Grimes.
Hi Gwendolyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Gwendolyn Grimes and I grew up on the west side of Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Buchtel Highschool. After several failed attempts at college and dead-end jobs, I found myself lost but not completely without hope because of having to care for my son whom I had as a teenager. I turned to my faith and since then my life has forever changed. I have been employed with a reputable company for 11 years, married for 9 years, and my family and I are two-time homeowners needless to say God has been good to us.
Furthermore, because of my love for God, has led me to pursue higher education with great success having obtained a Theology diploma in biblical studies at the Wilmington School of the Bible at Liberty University, and becoming the first Ordained Elder at The City of Joy Life Enrichment Center in Akron, Ohio under the leadership of Bishop Mayceo Smith II, and becoming a published author of two books one released in October 2021 titled Woman to Woman 21- Day Prayer Guide Becoming the Woman God Destined You to Be and the second released on October 2022 titled Woman to Woman 31 Day Prayer Guide Becoming the Wife God Destined You to Be.
Both books are filled with power-packed prayers with scriptural foundations in order for women to grow in their relationships with God to produce who they are in Christ. My desire is to teach, mentor, and grow women of all ages to begin to see themselves how God sees them in order for them not to fall into the same failures that cost me valuable time. This desire has led me to my business GreaterNGod LLC which sells inspirational items to encourage women to live their life out loud unapologetic for Christ
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. I was a teenage mother and a single parent living in poverty. I had to choose or find work that would get us out of poverty. I struggled with self-identity, self-worth, rejection, and abandonment.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Although I work a typical 9-5 job where I have been employed for 11 years my current employment is not my passion my hope is that one day my career and passion will collide to produce my dreams. Nonetheless what I am most proud of is my accomplishments in the church and how that has translated into the marketplace. Graduating from the Wilmington school of the Bible from Liberty University in Biblical Studies and authoring two prayer books.
What sets me apart from others is my focus and dedication to accomplish what God has ordained for me not being consumed with what’s popular but what brings a lasting meaning to change. I am most known for my prayers and having a heart of intercession which requires compassion, love, and humility which shows up every day in my life.
My mother always called me a giver when I was a child and it’s evident to those around me. I give because of the desire to see others well and successful
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is to trust God’s timing. Patience is a virtue because the journey is filled with lessons so when the test comes you will be prepared to pass with flying colors.
