Meet Eric Rogers of Black Box Fix Restaurant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Rogers.

Hi Eric, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Chef Eric Rogers was born and raised in inner city Cleveland, Ohio. Chef Eric learned at an early age the art of cooking from the soul. Starting at age of 8 years old, Chef Eric worked in his family’s restaurant cooking recipes with unmatched passion. That passion now transcends into every dish he prepares. In 2013, self-trained Chef Rogers open a successful first restaurant at Nevaeh Cuisine & Catering located in South Euclid, Ohio. In 2015, Chef Rogers opened his second restaurant Black Box Fix in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, then transitioning to his Legacy Village location in Lyndhurst, Ohio in 2017. BBF is regarded as one of the best sandwich restaurants in Ohio. Award winning BBF was voted in Best of Heights 2015- Best new Restaurant & Best New African American restaurant. Also named Best of Lyndhurst- Sandwiches & Street Food 2022- 2025. Chef Rogers continues to mentor chefs and entrepreneurs across the city of Cleveland. He also continues to give back to his community in a variety of ways through his foundation BBF Cares. Chef Rogers continued passion for culinary, delicious food, customer service, and community giving back is why he has been a successful restauranteur and staple in Cleveland’s food culture.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is easy in restaurants. This industry is tough for operators. But, my passion for food and service keeps me engaged and loving what I do for our community. Since Covid I have learned to never stay stagnant, always pivot when things are not working and goals are not met. I believe this is why our restaurant thrives. We stay innovative to the times and culture, we always look for ways to reinvent what we do, but staying true to what we are and our amazing culture.

We’ve been impressed with Black Box Fix Restaurant, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our award winning restaurant features creative unique sandwiches and street food. What sets up apart is our fresh ingredients made to order and our amazing flavors. We offer daily specials created by myself at an affordable price.for the community. We have an amazing social media following which sets us apart from others. We spend very little on advertising because our social presence is so strong. I am most proud of our longevity (11 years of service), and our consistency, we also have a great culture of customer service and cleanliness.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Our restaurant is a must try if you love in Northeast Ohio. We are a staple in the Cleveland food scene. Voted best sandwich place in Lyndhurst 5 years in a row.
