Today we’d like to introduce you to Earl Fox.
Hi Earl, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Started Collecting years ago as a hobby. A buddy and I spent our late teens early 20s opening and doing shows, which lead to my 1st store which we closed in 2008. I had a Blast and missed it. Honestly pry changed my life gave me a new goal. Tried again and didn’t have the support system at home to accomplish what I wanted. So, I sold everything off and still didn’t help my home issues and realized it was the person not the hobby. So, me and my kids ended up moving in with my mom to help give them a more stable life. I gave myself a 3-year plan and everything I did next 3 yrs. was all children and business related.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all Covid happened. Luckily my Landlord was awesome and didn’t charge rent during covid but I still rolled the dice. We were supposed to look at the building with the building inspector the day covid shut everything down. I had to scramble for storage for shelf I bought from a Macy’s that went out of business and all kinds of craziness.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a gaming and Hobby store Specializing in TCGs (trading card games) and RPGs (role-playing games) and Sportscards. We Carry Magic the gathering, and are a WPN Store, Yu-Gi-Oh, and we are an OTS Store, Metazoo, Pokémon, DND, and Warhammer. We have daily events and open play for everyone to come play and win prizes based on entry. We have paint nights for the miniature games. We have many free open-played days for Kids. We are a place that give kids a positive place to go that they can learn to play games that help with decision-making reading and comprehension math and social skills.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Networking, being positive, giving back, and most importantly being humble. being able to listen to successful people and take their advice and knowledge and imply it to my business.
