Today we’d like to introduce you to Davon Hawthorne.
Davon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Graduated from barber school in Nov of 2016 and passed my state exam in Dec 2016. Once I got my license I started working at Corn Cutz Barbershop. While in school Corn mentored me a showed me a ton of different things, such as how to conduct myself as a professional barber. He started to show me the business aspect of barbering. He would show me things like the importance of be on time for each appointment, how to get people to value your time, how to manage other independent contractors within the business, and how to look for quality’s within the people that are going to be working in my barbershop. I worked at Corn Cutz for a year and a half and moved into my own loft which I would name Revolutionary Cutz. After being in my own salon loft for a year and a half, building my clientele, I was able to be put in a position to have my own five chair shop at 4602 vine street which I am thriving and sustaining. All this as possible through the goodness of God!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a smooth road for the most part, even with the few bumps in the road that I did overcome. The 1st of those bumps was consistency in giving haircuts repeatedly, as well as learning different styles and different textures. Lastly, finding barbers with good work ethics that aligned with the same values as the vision for the business.

I am a professional barber, specializing in precision cuts. I am known for being punctual and keeping a family friendly environment at all times!
I am most proud of being able to build my brand from the ground up and being able to impact the community and the people around me. What sets me apart is my professionalism, care for my clients and community, and the atmosphere that each client experiences!
