Meet Danielle Yisrael Wilson of West Chester, Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Yisrael Wilson

Danielle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I come from a long line of business owners. And I’ve always had a touch for beauty. Growing up in a beauty salon owned by my grandfather, my mother was also a beautician, and the salon life has been embedded in me since birth. During my high school in college years, I freelanced out of my bedroom and went door-to-door beautifying all of my clients. In 2016, I noticed the trend of eyelash extensions, and knew that it would be an exciting new business venture. I completed beauty school in six months as an aesthetician and hit the ground running. With a small loan from my grandmother, who approved this new business venture, I opened my first salon in Fairfield in 2018. I moved to West Chester in 2019 after hitting a bump in a road with the building in Fairfield. I went from a one room suite in West Chester to the top floor with three rooms. Then 2020 hit. Closing my salon for six weeks. This gave me time to rethink my next move and expand. In 2020, I moved into a storefront in West Chester. With everyone wearing mask and being told that they cannot get beautification, my service was in high demand. I am now celebrating seven years in Business, five years in my storefront and now have a salon with six beauty experts and making room for an additional person. I’ve always believed that when you look good, you feel good and vice versa. I furnish all suites to give new beauty experts the opportunity to make money immediately without all the overhead. When you are a blessing, you receive blessings and that is manifested in my life completely. I am a mother of four and a wife. My hands are full, but I wouldn’t have it in any other way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Along the way, there were lots of bumps in the road. First, when you graduate beauty school it’s easy to go work for a big brand, but you make little money for your talent. That’s why I fully furnished the salon suites at my salon, to help beauticians avoid some of the overhead costs and discouragement. After opening my first salon in Fairfield, the building sold and there was a new owner who also owns nail salons. I thought we would have a great relationship because our businesses were not competitive in anyway. She turned out to be not very nice and was mad with me about things that were not disclosed to her about the building from the previous owner. After learning the building needed to be rewired she wanted to put that cost on me, I refused, and she turned off the electricity while I had clients! But justuce prevailed. I sued her in 2019 and received a settlement in April 2024. This bump gave me the encouragement to think bigger and had it not happened the way it did, I would not be where I am at now. I’m grateful for every challenge, trial and tribulation.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a master aesthetician, and I specialize in eyelash extensions. I am known for custom looks for all ages, backgrounds, and eye shapes. I have a wide range of pricing to accommodate the average mom or the biggest baddie. I’m very proud to have a great team of like-minded women who have the same morals as I do. This makes it very easy to conduct business with them. What sets me apart from others is that I am a woman’s woman. I treat others the way I want to be treated. I am understanding and accommodatable. My signature set is the eyelash intro set. It allows new clients to try eyelash extensions without the fear of being overdone. It is also an affordable set and beautiful. My other signature set is the Wispy Set. This $55 set has brought in many clients and is the best of both worlds. Both look wise and price wise, the Wispy Set is always a hit.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the city. I love the state. The weather is usually predictable and consistent. I love seeing all four seasons. With me being African-American all of my family is from the south and moving to Cincinnati, Ohio meant more jobs and freedom for my great grands. Ohio is the heart of opportunity.
