Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Ringer
Hi Daniel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I worked for a large corporation that while the pay was good I did not enjoy my work and felt we did not serve our customers in the manner we should. So when I saw an opportunity to go out on my own I took it and have been slowly building a business that puts the employees and customers first and has no shareholders or equity partners to answer to. Thus creating an operation that provided the best service possible.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I started the business right at the beginning of the pandemic. We of course had not anticipated the full effect the pandemic would have on the cost of materials so it was a little rough in the first year. But it helped us learn out to operate efficiently so it ultimately made us better. Now we are doing very well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in creating newly finished space in the basements of peoples homes. It is a space many people own and are paying for but utilizing in the best manner possible. We only do basements as we want to specialize and focus on delivering the best service possible. Basements by definition are subterranean or “underground” so the best practices have you building in ways that are not typically done in the floors above. We do these best practices to insure your family is safe from the dangers of mold cause by exposure to moisture that is typical in basements. We create a beautiful space for your family to enjoy that will not need to be demolished at create expense the minute it is exposed to a little moisture. It is easy to make a basement look nice. It is harder to make it look nice and be resilient to common issues found in the typical midwestern basement. So we specialize on just that to make sure we get it right and your investment, and family is well protected.
What were you like growing up?
I was an artistic kid growing up. I enjoyed nature, drawing and paint animals. A bit of a geeky kid that could get lost in the fantasy of Tolkien or day dream about exploring space. I enjoyed putting things together, model tanks and airplanes. Building tree houses in the woods. I had pretty much knew at a young age that I did not want to wear a tie and sit at a desk all day. I tried it for awhile of course as our society says it is the better thing to do. But in the end it was not for me. I like collaborating with people, but not to manipulate numbers on a spreadsheet, I like to help them to create something tangible something that will bring them comfort and possibly joy.
