Meet Crystal Rivera of Rivera Taxes & More

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Rivera.

Crystal Rivera

Hi Crystal, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been doing taxes for about 12 years. I started off at 18 by my mother teaching me as she was a tax professional. As I got older and got more experience, I started taking courses and classes to better my knowledge for tax preparation. I was able to obtain software and banking to offer tax advances and other refund options. In 2018, I opened up my own tax office. In 2022 I launched my first tax preparer boot camp, in which 3 ladies now have they own tax businesses. I have serviced over 150 clients per year. I specialize in small business taxes and personal taxes. I also help with itins and translations for my Spanish family. For 2023 we are doing refresher courses and coming strong this next tax season with great customer service, efficient, and most important knowledge. I offer my clients full explanation and help throughout the entire process.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had many hiccups that I was able to overcome. When Covid came around I had only been in business about a year alone. I had to switch from in person to virtual appointments. I had to relocate in the middle of pandemic.

We’ve been impressed with Rivera Taxes & More, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So, I am a Hispanic-owned bilingual tax preparer. I offer translations, notaries, tax preparations, business startup, I help build business credit. I help obtain ein numbers itin numbers. I offer cash advances and same-day money on tax refunds. What sets me apart is that one-on-one personal relationship I make with my clients. I always make sure anyone who does business with me understand the process. I answer questions and always trying to learn new things to help my clients. I provide virtual, travel, and in-person appointments. I also can service all 50 states. I am proud of my growth. When I started my first year I had less than 40 clients. Now I have over 150 clients and have branched out offices in Ohio, Florida, and Oklahoma.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years I hope to have multiple locations. I also plan to open up a one-stop shop in which I will have items for sale also. I hope to have more clients. I would like to have a year-round location and learn more ways to continue to help my clients.
