Meet Colin Anderson of Bourbon Aesthetic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colin Anderson.

Colin Anderson

Hi Colin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After visiting the Midwest and the B-Line of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, we stayed at the 21-C Hotel in Cincinnati. The architecture and style of downtown made me think of a word to describe the area, and not only did we enjoy actual bourbon in the area, but the essence and aesthetic of bourbon was the best way to describe the city’s vibe. We started an online store with leather goods and accessories that capture the “bourbon aesthetic.”

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Getting visitors has been a challenge, and spending more than I’d prefer on ads has been the biggest challenge, but we are starting to see return visitors who like what we are doing. We are working to bring in more small brands to make the shopping experience unique and fit our vision.

I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bourbon Aesthetic?
We specialize in leather goods, furniture, and home & bar accessories that are palatable to distinguished tastes, and we aim to work with small brands that produce high-quality, “small batch” items. We also want to build a subscription model that will involve choosing bourbon barrels and a different box set of items from the shop.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Always stay on top of customer communication; as a small company, we must build trust against prominent retailers and e-commerce stores.
