Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Glover.
Hi Chris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Running has always been a passion and expression of who I am. I’ve been involved with the running community for quite some time, whether its dressing up as superheroes or involved at the ground with run/walk clubs. Movement is such a gift, and I try to do whatever I can to ensure everyone has access when possible
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think everything with passion has struggles inherently. I am a firm believer of everything happens for a reason, and there’s a lesson to be learned along the way. Some lessons are simple, while others are profound. But there’s typically some kind of takeaway to gain from it. I say all that to say sure there’s difficulties in many passions we take on. Its about how we respond and receive them as lessons is how I ultimately view them as a struggle per say. I’ve also been blessed with friends and community that truly believe in the same missions and equity of movement. I’ve never been alone in this journey, and that in itself is such a blessing
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Safe Space Running?
Safe Space Running, a 501(c)(3) Non Profit based in Columbus OH, serves as a resource to the run / walk community. We encourage all walkers and runners of any fitness levels and empower them to achieve their goals and support health and wellness initiatives that strengthen and elevate the community.
The goal and uniqueness of Safe Space Running is connections and celebration. Serving as a connector and resource for new and established run/walk/fitness organizations, Safe Space Running is positioned to uplift and support everyone in their journey. Its not intended as a new run/walk club, but moreso how can we enable and enhance existing and new orgs as they emerge. Through storytelling, Safe Space Running seeks to celebrate everyone, no matter their experience, as they move for better health.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Surround yourself with people you trust and with the same goal. In community work, its always about community first. Egos can easily creep in, but when you have people to hold each other accountable and grounded, the work will get done.
