Meet Bryan Wilson of Hudson’s Edge Catering & Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Wilson.

Hi Bryan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I grew up in central Ohio on a small rural cattle farm. My agricultural background led to my interest in food and cooking from a young age. After high school, I was accepted into the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, where I studied under some of the top chefs in the world and earned my culinary degree. In 2014, I returned to my hometown and with the help of my family began a small catering business. Since then, Hudson’s Edge Catering and Events has been growing in leaps and bounds each year as our facilities, our service offerings, and our team has grown into the thriving business we have today. My mom, Judy, has been a cornerstone of this company from the start supporting my dreams and helping every step of the way. Our facility is located on the Wilson family property in London, Ohio, keeping close to my roots. My family, my staff, and I are passionate about providing high-quality catering and top-notch hospitality close to home.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As anyone who has worked with their family knows, it’s not always a smooth road. We started small, grew out of our kitchen, and had some long days and nights squeezed together in a small space as we built our new, larger capacity kitchen facility. Obviously, 2020 brought struggles to everyone in our industry. In order to get our business through the Covid-19 pandemic, we began a curbside market where people could order family-sized meals Take & Bake style. This was a new venture for our company but was a big hit in our community. It allowed us to connect and help people get through a difficult time while allowing our company to stay afloat and come out of pandemic stronger than ever. This is still a service that we provide in addition to our catering services.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Hudson’s Edge Catering and Events specializes in hand-made food using fresh ingredients. We create our meals from scratch and source our ingredients locally wherever possible. We value affordability and flexibility for our clients. By offering a wide variety of menu options and services, we are able to fit the vibe and the budget of most events. We don’t lock our clients into pre-set packages but allow them to create the menu and the event that works for them. Then, we pour our experience and our passion for great food into every meal that we prepare. Everyone from our kitchen staff to our delivery teams and our serving staff are a part of the family and are taught our values on hard work and high-quality service. Even as we have grown, we stay true to our roots as a small family business with a passion for delicious food.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up in rural Ohio on a family farm, I was always involved in agriculture. I was active in 4-H throughout school and spent a lot of my time participating in our county fair and other local agricultural events in addition to helping on the farm. I grew up in a large family that spent a lot of time (and a lot of meals) together. My interest in food and cooking started young, and I was inspired by the food that my mom and aunts prepared for our many large family gatherings. Growing up around farming, I had knowledge of where our food comes from and was interested to know more about the culinary side of things. I always knew that I wanted to stay in the central Ohio area to be near my family and my hometown.
