Hi Brittany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Brittany Hatchette, and I am a 28-year-old entrepreneur born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I started my sleepover party business right after the pandemic happened around May 2021 I wanted to create and bring something refreshing and exciting to all of Northeast Ohio. It all started when I was searching for some out-of-the-box ideas for my daughter’s birthday that would be accommodating for the indoors and Covid-19 as well. Every kid loves a sleepover with their friends or teammates and just creating those everlasting memories that we hold onto and cherish all the way into adulthood and those priceless memories of staying up late, watching movies, and eating all the pizza and junk food that you could take.
I’ve always enjoyed the fast pace environment of party planning and coordinating, especially with my work background being in restaurants and hospitality so customer service and just over-wowing my guest or customers was something I always took pride in. I realized over the years the joy and excitement I truly had for working and setting up private parties and events for other people I just had to find my way on my own journey I guess to what really best fits me and my style, and now that I have found that with my sleepover party business especially because there is still so much room for me to grow and expand into, the sky is really the limit.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t really think that any small business has a “smooth road” per se, but there has definitely been a few challenges and speed bumps along the way, as I like to call them. I think that staying consistent has been a challenge for me along the way and I say that because you really have to be motivated and driven EVERY DAY to building your business to the level of success that you truly want. Social media these days as we all know, can play a HUGE part sometimes in reaching that target audience or clientele you want and not only getting them to engage but also keeping them engaged. Especially for the type of sleepover parties, I specialize in it’s like if you don’t know what they are already it can be tricky for a potential customer to visualize it all, so, of course, that’s when Instagram and Facebook becomes helpful but also tricky. I’m still learning new techniques like every month sometimes every week. I find myself almost just testing new techniques every week especially because the algorithms can change so much for a person just based on what content they seem to care about the most. I’ve also ran into a few speed bumps in regards to setting up my sleepover parties, so I’ve definitely had to get creative in using some tips and tricks, for example like ways to not have the teepee tents slide on wood flooring, you know things like that, but that’s what I enjoy all the new lessons and challenges that come with it.

Our beautiful but yet durable hand-crafted Boho-styled teepee tents with custom-themed fabric designs. These tents are great for indoor and outdoor sleepover parties that also provides a personal space for each person inside their own theme teepee tent, and inside that teepee tent it will include a twin-size air mattress and all the bedding amenities like plush blankets, fitted sheets, and a decorative pillows. I do have a variety of sleepover themes and packages to choose from, of course, for each birthday girl or boy to choose from, but we will also do customized themes or any special sleepover dream your little one may have.
What sets me apart from others is that we are accommodating for both indoors and outdoors, especially with the weather in Cleveland being so unpredictable a lot of the times, and also that there aren’t many sleepover party businesses in the Northeast Ohio area.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
If anything, the Covid-19 Crisis gave me the push I think I needed to be my true creative, and authentic self and the overall motivation that lead me to starting my business. In a way, it made me become more creative, but I think a lot of people around the world had to get creative with everything, our jobs, our families, and just our everyday lives, getting used to our new but yet ever-changing normal around us.
